| houstontexas's Full Review: Houston Cellular Mobile Phone Service in Houston |
I signed a contract with Houston Cellular last year because my company wants us to use an AT&T One-Rate type plan and provider. At the time, AT&T was a partner in Houston Cellular. The quality of cell service is similar to most major carriers, poor reception, dropped calls, unable to get into voice mail during peak times, etc. What bothers me more is the level customer service. Detailed billing is extremely confusing for frequent roamers. Roaming minutes show up twice on your bill, once for airtime charges, and once for long distance. Columns don't total and the summary of charges page doesn't reflect column totals. After 10+ calls to management and a chat with the FCC, I know understand that while the bills are "hard to read", I am paying the correct amount. I also ran into difficulty when roaming in the Washington DC area. Bell Atlantic was not connecting incoming calls to me. Instead callers were receiving a caller not available message. This took several weeks to resolve.
Over all the service has been satisfactory, but I just hope I don't have the need to contact customer service again.
