Pros: Hefty storage; intuitive to use; reliable;
Cons: MusicMatch sux! Battery issues (but this is everywhere); Expensive, but worth the money.
The Bottom Line: If you can afford one, buy it. The iPod is simply the best product of its kind. (But, it's NOT for jogging with!!)

| aragond's Full Review: Apple iPod (20 GB, PC - M8741LL/A) MP3 Player |
Well, maybe you can. I have read people complain about issues with theirs, and I was feeling a little cautious when I bought my iPod, but I've been fortunate enough to have no problems.
The iPod is THE father, mother, grandfather and great-Uncle of MP3 players. Featuring (in mine's case) a 20GB HDD, mine is able to store more than 2,500 tunes... {checks} 2,775 MP3 files loaded with still 4.7GB to go.
It is SIMPLE to use. Or should I say INTUITIVE.
Five buttons, one non-moving scroll wheel (on mine) just like a laptop. That's it.
Now, mine has crashed on occasion, probably about half-a-dozen times, which annoyingly erases the time (reset it), but I think I have figured that to be because I try to rewind a track when it hits the precise end of the track. There's only been one or two that now I still cannot explain.
But, let me also say, my iPod gets used EVERY day, for at least a couple of hours, sometimes eight or so, and I have had it for a good fourteen months, now. So, you do the math: well over a thousand hours of playback.
There is also some rumours floating about regarding the batteries needing routine replacement which is going to annoy the crap outa me, though. My battery, ten hours? Well, not quite, but an optimistic usage schedule and I reckon you could get ten hours of play out of it. The battery meter is also a tiny bit of a joke when you first get it, but you soon learn to appreciate what it is REALLY trying to say.
Did I happen to mention it stores 2,775 of my songs on it? That is almost my entire CD collection!! That blows me away even today!
While I do not want to be guilty of overstating the case, I will tell you now, the iPod is simply THE single best device I think I have bought in my entire life. And that's saying a lot. It is just so well-made, so well-designed, and so darn useful.
Oh, but while I thought I was going to struggle with the cons list, I can mention one: MusicMatch. Crappy software. Glad there is Ephpod and iTunes for Windows (XP only) about!
