| Full Review |
My family recently moved from Omaha, Nebraska, to the Northeastern corner of Montana. We became very used to shopping on any given weekend for clothing, groceries, etc. at a lot of our favorite stores. Since moving to Montana, we are continuing our shopping, only online. I will be reviewing the sites we use to help you decide whether or not to use the stores!
Why do I utilize OldNavy.com?
I utilize OldNavy.com to buy clothing for myself, my wife and my kids. Either my wife or I stop by every week to two weeks and check the specials. In addition to this we will go to the site for more specific searches when we determine that we need something. Most of our denim jeans are from this store, and much of our casual shirt selection. As I said, I live in rural Montana, so I do not have a bricks and mortar store nearby. We recently bought three items from OldNavy.com, and every order has been a good experience as far as performance by the site.
Site Layout
Oldnavy.com is a good website designed for online shopping. The site is colored brightly, sharing the color scheme that you will see in the physical locations as well as the commercials that you see on TV. The site is nicely laid out with great search features and a good checkout system.
The OldNavy.com sites front page gives you access to a good search engine, tabs to go directly to categories, and miscellaneous things such as My Cart, sign in or sign up, and the Weekly Sale. This weeks sale is the Winter Sale, with 50-80% off. If the sales are not why you are here, you can also go directly to the tabs across the top of the page. The sites are:
Men
Women
Boys
Girls
Baby Boys
Baby Girls
Maternity
The last selection is one that most people do not know that Old Navy has. Their maternity selection is pretty nice, but it is only available online. My wife utilized their clothing during her pregnancy, and she felt they were high quality.(But then you only wear them for a year at a time, at the most!)
Overall I like the layout of this site, and really enjoy the search engine. You can search for your item by clicking on the department across the top of the page and then narrowing your search by clothing type, sizing, etc. It works as a drill down menu on the left, continuing in. You can also simply type in what you are looking for in the search entry line at the top of the page and have it pop up by itself. Most recently, I plugged in painters jeans, as those are my favorite style to wear. I store my cell phone in the small side pocket. With just this amount of data, the search engine returned the proper items, and I added the jeans in the correct sizing to my bag.
Order processing page
I didnt want to order anything else that day, so I checked to ensure the standard shipping was selected and then clicked on Checkout. The next screen asked if I already had an account, which I did, so I didnt need to enter any information at this point. From what I remember of the original setup of my account at OldNavy.com it was not a hard setup at all.
The checkout screen popped up with my information already in, but the credit card that was saved is one that I cancelled recently. I changed the card, which is painless. Double check the shipping, and then click on Order Now.
After you enter all information and press Yes to confirm the order, it brings up a page with your order confirmation number attached. The site asks you to print the page, which I always do. It also tells you that a confirmation email will be sent shortly to your account. I timed it on my last order, as I was preparing to write this review. It took under a half of a minute to generate the email and fly through the internet to my account. The next email I received was three days later, which was notification of shipment. This email includes a tracking number and site to track the progress of your package across the country. In my case I was using standard shipping and it took 6 days to get from Pittsburgh, PA, to Sidney, MT. Not too shabby, but definitely longer than other sites I have used.
Shipping(and Handling)
Shipping at this site is average. The shipping rates, from their website, are as follows:
Shipping and Handling Fees
Order Total Shipping and Handling
Up to $25 $5.95
$25.01 to $50.00 $6.95
$50.01 to $75.00 $8.95
$75.01 to $100.00 $10.95
$100.01 to $150.00 $12.95
$150.01 to $200.00 $13.95
$200.01 or more $15.95
These prices are all for standard shipping, keep in mind. You can obviously pay a little more and get the packages earlier. For instance, on my order of $22.00 for jeans, I paid $5.95 to get them shipped to my house 8 days from the order. I could have chosen to pay $14.95 to get it delivered in 1-2 days. The only other option does not cost any extra. You can also get 1-2 day shipping with signature confirmation. That may be beneficial for you if get it delivered to your place of work, as you could then track down your clothes!
All of my packages have been shipped securely and safely. I do not have any fear that the clothing will become damaged in shipping, so I am overall satisfied with their shipping and handling.
Customer Service/Contact
I have never had to return anything to this particular site, as I always knew in advance that I was getting the right product. However, if you do not have the same luck, feel consoled to know that their return policy is fairly liberal in comparison to other sites.
If you exchange, there is no cost to you. If you simply return, you can pull up on their site a preprinted label to attach to your package. They will then simply deduct a $5 fee from the refund to your card to cover the shipping. Not bad at all, especially since I cannot take advantage of free returns at the physical stores!
If you need to contact Old Navy for any reason, their information is below:

The Final Word
OldNavy.com is a very good site tied to one of our very favorite stores. My family has a large amount of Old Navy clothing, and we can continue to buy from them online with a modest shipping and handling charge. I am also confident that I will be pleased with returning merchandise in the future if the need arises, as their charges are not exorbitant and they work to make it easy for you. The site is nicely laid out, and the shopping experience is good. Not as good as the physical locations, but you dont have to fix your hair and drive there, either!
I hope this review helps you, and please leave me feedback ratings or comments!
