I've bought several shirts from Ravis Custom Tailors, and my advice is simple: take the time to get familiar with their product and the way they tailor clothing, because they will make EXACTLY what you order once you've set the wheels in motion. In my experience, the three most important items are getting your measurements right, selecting the correct fabric, and picking the style correctly (example: I ordered a dress casual shirt with a tab collar on my first order - not a good idea unless you wear a tie all the time.)
My best advice would be to order some fabric swatches, then an inexpensive garment or two, such as one of their $38 dress shirts, until you get familiar with the system. For those of you who don't like waiting around for fabric swatches, a good starting fabric for dress shirts is #123, Cotton Twill, and good basic-wardrobe colors to start out with are Soft White, Ecru and French Blue.
Given the fact that they are 14 time zones away and offering a deeply discounted product, Ravis does a decent job of communicating with you once the order has been placed. In my experience, the express shipping has been worth the extra money, as it takes a while to get a custom garment built and shipped - about 3-4 weeks from order to delivery.
Today I placed my sixth order for shirts with Ravis, a three-shirt order totalling $150 with shipping which would have easily cost me $270 through a local clothier. As long as they continue to provide this kind of value to their customers, I foresee a long and prosperous run in Ravis' future.
