Pros: They work quite well at preventing color bleeding between clothes.
Cons: Expensive at $3+ for 24 sheets
The Bottom Line: While Shout Color Catchers are a little pricey, they seem to have been worth the expense, and have ended up saving me time and money.

| logimom's Full Review: Shout Color Catcher |
I dread doing laundry. There are so many things you can't wash together, which means more loads and more time. and Heaven forbid the hubby or teenage son do it, or do it right. I get athletic socks washed with my lovely sweaters that normally go through the gentle cycle and laid flat to dry. I have a treasure-trove of pink, shades-of-pink, and pink undertone underwear. I'm not that fond of pink, y'all. Yeah... I doth protest and should consider myself lucky... but I really don't. I'm a picky wench and hate to shop for clothes. I like to keep the ones I have nice.
I've seen the ads for this Shout Color Catcher and figured they worked about as well as other Shout products -- mediocre. I saw them next to my favorite laundry detergent, and decided it might be worth 3 bucks to give 'em a spin (pun intended). If anything, I can always review it (and here we are).
Description and Use
Shout Color Catcher sheets resemble very thick dryer sheets, measuring 7" X 7 1/4". They are dry to touch and have a wonderful fresh scent. Why they are scented, I don't know... they don't leave any fragrance on clothes beyond the scent of the detergent. But it's still rather nice. Instructions for use are simple -- just toss one sheet (2 for larger loads) into the washer for one use, then discard. you can use these with any detergent or fabric softener, and in any water temperature. They're also safe for the dryer and all washable fabrics.
The purpose of Shout Color Catcher is to trap dyes that come out of your clothes in the wash. The sheets lock in these loose dyes so they don't redeposit on your clothes. This allows you to mix a variety of colors you might not normally. Shout does give the following caveats for use, though:
* Effectiveness cannot be guaranteed if there are large amounts of dye bleed from non-colorfast garments.
* Use reasonable care when washing whites with colors and when washing new garments for the first time.
Words to pay attention to...
My Thoughts
You know, I didn't realize how stuff you've washed fifty times can still release quite a bit of dye. I tossed one of these Shout Color Catchers in with a load of old, faded jeans and tees. I was surprised to see how dark that sheet got from the loose dye! Most of you who know me, know I like to experiment, so in went a couple of red sweatshirts and tees, along with a pair of pristine white socks, just ripe for the picking. I halfway expected some pretty pink hybrid (much like my underwear), but the only pink thing I plucked out was the Shout Color Catcher sheet.
I have to tell you, once the damage is done by these free-floating dyes, don't expect Shout Color Catcher to fix it. It has prevented quite a bit of damage, but fixed none. I've also been able to cut my weekly toil by about 2 loads, which doesn't sound like much, but I think it's great.
It's not a panacea by any means, but it sure helps. My only gripe is it is a little expensive at $3 or more for 24 sheets. Ouch, says my coin purse. Expensive, but worth it, in my book. Thumbs up!
Thanks for reading!
