Ever wonder when sorting clothes to wash where to place that item with bright red stripes alongside white stripes? Or maybe you've got a load of bright colors and just one dark red item you'd love to toss in with the others? And of course there's always that new pair of dark blue denim jeans that you know for sure is going to bleed.
Shout Color Catchers can really help on laundry day to keep your whites white, and your colors true.
~ Product Description
Shout Color Catchers are dye-trapping cloths that you place in your washer with your clothes. The cloths absorb and trap any loose dye so that it doesn't deposit back onto other clothes in the wash. The box tells us Color Catchers allow you to mix light, medium and bright colors together in one load.
Shout Color Catchers are safe for all washable fabrics, and work well at all temperatures and with all laundry products.
The cloths are white, and resemble a thick dryer sheet. They just feel like a soft fabric, with no apparent stickiness or sense that there's anything on or in the cloth other than fabric. They have a very, very slight fresh scent, but nothing so strong as dryer sheets do. They come packaged in a box of 24 cloths, for about $3 to $3.20. The box has a perforated opening with a tab closing. Again, think dryer sheets.
~ Directions for Use
Easy! Just put one cloth, or maybe two for larger loads, in the wash with your clothes. Use all your other laundry products as you normally would. Then just discard the cloth when the wash is finished - but do not flush. If it happens to end up in the dryer, that's okay.
There is a notation that effectiveness cannot be guaranteed if there are large amounts of dye bleed. We are cautioned to use reasonable care when washing whites with colors and when washing new garments the first time. These cloths can only do much, after all! So just use common sense.
~ My Experience
I've been using Shout Color Catchers now for several months, with excellent results. You'll be amazed at how much dye is absorbed by the Color Catcher! You can see after the wash that the white Color Catcher is now pink, or blue or whatever, and has obviously absorbed loose dye, so you can tell that it's working.
I have actually been able to cut down on the amount of loads of laundry I have to do, because I don't have to separate colors so carefully. I washed my husband's new, dark denim pants with some medium colored clothes, and the Shout Color Catcher did its job and kept all the colors true. It seems like my clothes, colors and whites alike, are not so dingy. When in doubt, I always throw in a Color Catcher, and so far I haven't been disappointed. But I am using common sense, and not washing a new red cotton shirt with my whites, for instance.
A couple of times the Shout Color Catcher has ended up in the dryer, and I haven't had any problems. I just throw it away with the dryer sheet.
~ Final Thoughts
Shout Color Catchers are great! You'll cut down on the number of loads you have to do, and your colors will stay bright and your whites white. They are simple to use. You may actually save money and time, just because you are doing a few less loads. Give 'em a try!
