| honda1971's Full Review: ABS Supreme DVD System 1 |
I'm writing on my ABS DVD Supreme with P3/450 MHz. I know this system is not in this spectrum, but it's close enough. I purchased my computer over a year ago and it has only crashed a handful of times (three or four times) and each time it happened because I multi-tasked too much. I was browsing and running Excel plus a scanning program simultaneously. It's possible to do this, but it did crash it a few times. I use Dell at work and they're obviously more usage intensive, but they crash all the time. I get around five or six crashes per month with the Dell.
My system has an 8x DVD, 12 GB HD, 17" monitor (.26 dpi), and Harman/Kardon speakers in a medium tower. It came with Windows98 and some other basic applications. I've installed Office2000, VB 6.0, Photoshop 7, various photo cam applications, and a several hundred MP3 files and it runs perfect.
I can't really critique tech. support because I've never had to use them. The only time I spoke to anyone in tech. support was when I made the initial purchase and I had some questions on the system that the salesperson could not answer.
My purchasing process went very smooth and the system was delivered fine and on time. There were very easy to understand instructions on how to connect the various components. I'm sort of a "computer geek" so I didn't really need the instructions, but looking at it, it looked like it was well written with illustrations.
The only con, and it occurred when I first opened the box, was the quality of the keyboard. The ABS keyboard supplied is a standard Windows keyboard that looked like it cost about $1.00 to make and sells for $5.00. It looks like it would probably melt under the sun, but so far so good. It's working as a keyboard should. I guess looks only matter if it actually serves a function. The keyboard has always worked, so there.
