Pros: BIG Bad MOFO!
Cons: I'm not worthy!
The Bottom Line: Get it. The viewsonic VP201 @ $1200 and Dell 2001FP $1000 are both 20". The samsung is 21.3" and almost the same price.

| j721's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 213 T (Silver) 21.3" LCD Monito... |
Just picked up mine tonight.
Words that came to my mouth before I turned it on.
"MASSIVE!"
After I turned it on.
"PERFECT!"
1600x1200 clean and crisp from corner to corner. 1 bad pixel. no biggie.
I was too worried about getting a 20" DEll 2001fp from mail order and heard lots of people complain about dead pixels and the weird screen door effect, plus their have been many complaints about Dell's customer support.
Another consideration before the 213T was the 20" Viewsonic VP201 and is about the same price as the samsung. BUT the samsung is 21.3" vs 20", according to a review I read they stated samsungs screen is 11% bigger. Why spend the same amount of money and get a 20" LCD when you can get a 21.3" LCD?
One factor that should help you decided is the refresh rate. If you really are a hard core gamer then you need the fasted display vs the larger screen and the VP201 or Dell 2001fp would win with 16ms refresh rate. Otherwise the 25ms Samsung 213T will do just fine.
Before I bought this samsung, I made the mistake of getting a 21" CRT after owning a 19" LCD @ 1280x1024 (which I sold). You just can't get that perfect pixel look everywhere on CRTs and the thing generated so much heat, plus I had troubles getting a consistant color and clarity too much trouble. LCDs just look so perfect and their are NO BLURRY AREAS that you often get with CRTs unless you want to get a high end CRT for over 1Grand.
About purchasing, definetely check into CompUSA. prices seem comparable to online shops and you don't have to worry about shipping. Plus online you can check stores near you to see how many they have in stock and reserve on for pickup or delivery if you don't have a car. Also they currently have a $100 rebate so my price in the end goes down to $1100. By the time you read this prices will probably drop a bit as well. Today is March 13 2004.
I must say, this monitor is amazing. I am leaning back in my chair, I have to move my eyes about to see certain areas of the screen. It's that big. I was worried that the fonts would be too small since the monitor runs at such a high resolution of 1600x1200, but with such a big screen the font size is perfect.
I had to edit my review. I was a little sloppy at first and overjoyed to buy this display so my wording had to be cleaned up.
