| TheBaba's Full Review: Chocolate Lovers "Regal" Gift Basket |
Are there many out there who aren't chocolate lovers? Chocolate is probably the one universal gift that everyone delights in receiving. From chocolate kisses...to gourmet truffles! Chocolates could possibly stop wars even!
We all know our children love chocolates. Most even love to wear chocolate! I've seen a few who look lovely with it in their hair and all over their beautiful little faces.
And isn't that bunny coming to town soon?
So what better to do that to give you some hints on ''Easter Baskets''.
An Easter basket is where it all started, I believe. Something to carry goodies in that are delivered on that special day. The Easter baskets that I have designed have mainly been for my Grandchildren. Every year it's been a thrill...for them and for me! I have done 3 types of Easter baskets for them.
First I'll tell of the "Chocolate Lovers Easter Basket";
Naturally it is filled with many different chocolates. Some bought and some created by the giver.
Store bought chocolate bars...can be turned into delicious fuzzy little critters. This is done by simply unwrapping the bite size candy bars and laying them on an outline of a kitty, bear, or whatever the child's favorite animal is that you have drawn. Then put a piece of tin foil under your animal and hold it over the stove. The chocolate melts just a little and the whole critter sticks together. This can also be done with chocolate chips! What fun it is to bite the head off a dog, or cat!
It's always fun for all to make homemade chocolate candies. Melting the chocolate (any brand) then using a spoon to drip it, real thin, on waxed paper....then use cookie cutters to punch out you designs. Or you can take the chickens way out and just put a bag of chocolate chips and a few cutters into the basket. Either way...it's so much nicer to get a surprise in those baskets.
There will always be 'store bought' chocolates...but the chocolate made at home some how always seems to be the best!
Now for a "Non-Chocolate Lovers Easter Basket";
Some of you would prefer that your little ones don't get so much chocolate in their baskets. Here are a few non-chocolate ideas. Easter, to children, is all about eating the goodies in the Easter Baskets....so don't disappoint them. Try putting some cookie mix, with a few chocolate chips in a baggie and tying a pretty ribbon around the top. A bag of Bagel Chips are always good too. Or maybe even some fruits and nuts! Most kids won't complain too much...as long as there is something to eat!
Also, you can always go with a stuffed animal, a shirt, a ball, small toys, hair 'pretties' for the girls...socks, or undies for the boys. Anything just for them will make their basket special!
How about a "Non-Easter Easter Basket";
Most of our Easters are spent at our home South of the Boarder....on the beach. So sometimes the baskets have almost nothing to do with a typical Easter Basket! There are always a few candies and colored eggs...but for Easter at the Beach, (or any other place you may be) try putting related items in the baskets.
An example of our ''Easter at the beach Baskets'':
Some candies
Few colored eggs
chunks of wax....to melt for sand candles
small wooden boxes....to paint and cover with seashells
small gardening shovels....for clamming adventures.
gloves...so they can drive that dune buggy that we have stuck in first gear.
ka-bob metal sticks...for our weenie roasts and to help make samores at the campfire.
All of these item are put into a basket that has Easter grass in the bottom and cellophane wrappings. When my grandchildren were younger they always thought "That Easter Bunny is so smart! He always know just what we need in our Baskets". They didn't miss the candies at all.
