The BabyLock Accent Embroidery machine is a workhorse. There are machines that stitch faster and have a larger stitching field than the Accent but none can match it for its stitch quality.
The Accent accepts embroidery cards into a slot on the side. The Accent then reads the data for the stitch placement from the card. Your garment is placed into a special hoop that is attached to the embroidery arm. That arm will move front/back and side to side to create your design. You must change the thread for each color change. With the automatic threader, this chore becomes easy to do. You don't change the bobbin thread for each color change. The bobbin thread is a thinner thread so it does not pull up to the top of the design.
The screen built into the Accent has help screens, built in designs, frames, alphabets and warnings. If you run out of thread, the Accent will stop stitching and warn you to check your thread. After you change the thread, you are able to back up one stitch at a time to start stitching again.
There are several different sized hoops available for the Accent. A very small hoop is used for small items like baby garments, or cuffs. A medium size hoop that will accept a 4x4 inch design. There is also a three position ex-large hoop that will stitch combined 4x6.77 inch design (as long as each portion of the design is only 4x4 inches). The three stitching sections overlap each other and the Palette software has hooping guidelines built in to it to help with placement.
Various embroidery cards are available from your dealer. They range in content from flowers to baby items. There are several licensed cards out that have the Simpsons, Betty Boop, Dennis the Menice, various Sesame Street cards, Mary Englebreit, Popeye, Garfield, Martha Pullen, Peter Rabbit and the list goes on. If you have the Palette software you are able to create your own designs, send them to the embroidery card and then stitch them with your Accent.
Just be sure to leave plenty of room in the front and back of the Accent to allow for hoop movement.
All in all this machine is a real wonder. You will just be mesmerized watching your creations stitch out, so be careful and wear eye protection in case a needle breaks.
