Pros: Superb photo quality pictures, seperate ink tanks for economical ink replacing.
Cons: Quite slow... but who cares.
The Bottom Line: Amazing photo realism. It is very easy to setup and use. Very good value for money. I wouldn't trade for another printer for a long time.

| ikat_knows's Full Review: Canon BJC 3000 Inkjet Printer |
A few weeks ago, my HP laser printer died. I was so peed off about it since I relied on my printer for printing manuscripts for the children's books I write. This printer was only a black/white printer but it gave excellent quality prints.
A few weeks later I went into an appliance store to glance at the price of a laptop computer and the salesman there ended up selling me a printer. This was an Epson 480.
Here's where it becomes interesting. While at the counter handing over the money for the Epson I noticed 'USB' written on the box. I had a closer look and realized that it had no parallel port so therefore it was useless to me since I had no USB port. I went back to the range of printers and stressed myself out finding one that would be as good as the Epson without paying heaps more.
Too make a long story short I chose the BJC-3000 since it printed at 1440 x 720 dpi. It was only $50 more than the Epson.
I took it home, plugged it in, threw in the ink cartridge, shoved in some paper and printed a picture. I WAS AMAZED! This printer coughed out some good pictures. I went back to a different shop to look at the demo pictures printed with this printer and it took me longer than 5 seconds to tell that it wasn't a real photo. (printed with photo ink on high gloss photo film)
Ink System
Three different types of cartridge: Normal cartridge for everyday printing, Black ink cartridge for fast text printing and Photo Cartridge for printing photographs using Photo realism technology.
The Photo ink is lighter than the normal ink and therefore the density of the ink dots can be controlled for a more realistic colour and the photos are a lot less grainy.
Separate ink tanks that can be removed from the cartridge for more economical use of the printer since any single color can be replace at any time without throwing away the other colors.
Print Speed
Only when using the draft setting will the printer live up to the speed suggested by the manufacturers. When printing a photo at high quality setting, it is very slow. It will take a few minutes to print a whole A4 sized sheet (I haven’t timed it exactly).
Features
· Optional Auto Power – off/on
· Automatic Photo-to-Illustration converter (gives the photo a ‘hand-drawn’ look)
· Image optimiser (smoothes out pixel edges)
· Photo optimiser (touches up poorly exposed photos)

This is really all I have to say about this printer. It is an amazing printer and I suggest you go and try one out for yourself before you buy. Remember to try out other printers though because there may be a different printer to meet your needs.
