| willthing's Full Review: Electric/Battery Breast Pump Kit |
This pump is so painful that I felt obligated to send a letter to the company to inform them. The following is the letter I sent.
Dear Mr. Sidman,
I would like to bring your attention a complaint I have about the experience I had with one of your products. I am extremely upset about this, and I hope you are able to resolve this situation.
I researched breast pumps when I had my first child trying to find the best one. Then when my second child was on the way my husband went shopping for a new one as the first one worked great but had out grown its usefulness. We retired the old one to the garbage and purchased the first years' Electric/Battery Breast Pump Kit. Our reason for this was the ability to pump both sides at the same time because when you first start pumping the vibration of a single pump causes your other breast to leak a steady stream and you lose milk.
This pump is very painful, and I can't stress this fact enough. I even called your company to see if maybe something was wrong with the pump. Nothing was. There is no happy medium on this pump. It has two settings no matter where you move the suction dial. On the lower settings it doesn't stimulate milk and on the higher settings you can pump milk but it is so painful that you can not leave it on longer than 20 - 60 seconds.
After repeated use of this pump (about 4 days, 6 times a day) my nipples were so bloody that my child's milk was orange (milk and blood mixed) and I stopped breast-feeding and pumping altogether and switched to formula. It was so painful for the next two and a half weeks that I went no where because I could not stand to have clothing or even breast pads touch my nipples.
I do want to tell you that I regularly buy your products like sippie cups for my three-year-old, toys and we have three of your walk through gates among other things. I have had good luck in the past with all of the products except for this breast pump. I will still buy your products in the future, but your response to this complaint will seriously effect my decisions to make the larger purchases.
I also want to let you know Way to go on Mr. Wiggles my son will not go to sleep without him and it is the most fought over toy in our house. I was thinking of buying another one so that neither of the kids has to share this one.
The store I purchased at is located at: Babies R Us in West Des Moines IA.
I believe I am extremely valuable to your company based on my frequent purchases, and I usually spend $5.00 to $150.00 each time I buy which happens to be about twice a week. Although I probably shouldn't admit it, I would definitely pay more if you could properly address this problem.
I have not yet decided whether I will return to your products again, and I'm not sure if I can recommend The First Years Inc. to others. Why do I patronize your company? Because I've had good experiences before.
Here's what I'd like to see happen: I would like you to refund my $59.99 as this product can not be returned to Babies R Us after it is used. I will return the item if your company provides the shipping/postage lable.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
I really wanted to tell him that as punishment for this awful design all the designers and himself should be forced to use it as long as I did. I think after this experience they would think twice about making any more of these pumps.
If you had this experience with this pump or any other product go to http://www.planetfeedback.com/referFriend/entry/?start=31358,a complaint service that will get you results.
