Some common facts about CDRW Drives
Apr 29 '01
The Bottom Line Understand these things and your CDRw buying/installation should go over very smoothly.
I recently helped my friend install his CdRw drive. It was an easy installation, and all went smoothly until it was time to write a cd. Little did we know we knew little about cd rewriteable drives. Here are some basic things for you to know:
1. You must format CDRw drives before you can write to them, and before others can read them.
2. Burning a cd takes quite a while, especially on the slower models.
3. Make sure you know how to install a Cd Rom drive first.
4. CdRW disks arent that expensive, but if yours doesnt come with any, remember to buy some.
5. CdRW Drives are as easily fried by static electricity as all other drives, ground yourself, and work carefully!
6. Make sure your drive comes with drivers, or is supported by your current version of your O/s. Also, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements. If you arent sure if your drive is supported by your version of windows, go to: http://www.microsoft.com/hcl
7. Read all instructions and know exactly what you are doing. Once again, work carefully, and happy burning!
