| jenni796's Full Review: Kenmore Flash Defrost Chest Freezer |
Don't you hate returning from the grocery store with a car full of food and you have no place to put it? I did this for years! I would see a great sale on meat or frozen dinners, buy a cart full, get home, and no room left in the freezer to store it. I would rearrange my refrigerator freezer until my hands were numb only to find that I threw out half of what was in there and still didn't have nearly enough room.
I finally got wise and demanded a new freezer. I didn't really care about the brand or size, I just needed one. My husband went to our distributor (we own an appliance company) and came home with the Kenmore Flash Defrost Chest Freezer. He chose this one because it was the only one they carried that didn't have to be defrosted regularly.
Another problem came up... Where do we put it? We have a large kitchen but no extra space for a freezer. Our laundry room is in our basement and there wasn't any room down there either. Good thing he is resourceful, we put it out on the screened porch. The outlet is right next to a sliding door and it worked out perfect. It is small enough to blend in yet holds a ton of food. It has also held up very well, no rust or wear on the paint from the weather in 2 years of being outside. I do try to wipe the exterior clean about every 2 weeks and it still looks new.
Now I just slide the door and dig till my heart is content in my freezer. I never have to worry about running out of freezer space. This freezer has one basket that is about a square foot in size which will slide along the top of the freezer to either side. I have not defrosted it in the 2 years that I have owned it but it is gathering a layer of ice around the inside. I think if I kept it inside (especially during the summer because of the humidity when I open it) it would have been fine until now.
It really would be nice if they included another basket or came up with a way to organize a chest freezer. Everything is kind of piled up and you really have to dig way down sometimes for specific items. I guess that is why they make upright freezers?
I would definately recommend this freezer to anyone looking for a compact freezer that holds a lot of food and hates to defrost their freezers.
