| thedragonweyr's Full Review: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo |
A few weeks ago I received a white and blue sponge from Hass MS&L, the public relations firm that handles Procter and Gamble. It came in a plain white envelope with pretty basic instructions: wet, wipe gently, dirt gone.
Well, Mama Dragon didnt raise no fool! Sure a silly little white and blue sponge, when dampened and rubbed gently across some hideous stain will make it all go away; and Osama bin Laden is going to start volunteering at our local 4-H camp next week too
Will Wonders Ever Cease?
But it was free and the deal is that I have to review the thing if I want to keep getting free goodies, so I wet the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo, squeezed out the excess water, and went in search of something really filthy. As this is the day after St. Mary, our cleaning lady came by to do her thing, finding filth was not easy the kitchen is still spotless a full 24 hours later.
I was forced to go farther afield to find filth, but, as our house is still in some disarray from extensive remodeling, it was not hard. There is dirty paint galore, just waiting for the last strip of hardwood to be installed so it can be repainted. A few swipes with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo, and I had clean woodwork around the front door! Then I tried some scuffmarks on a wall surface, gone in seconds! The deep-freeze, hidden in the office closet, is now gleaming like new! Even the deeply incised decorative grooves in all our doors, notorious dirt traps, are now looking as clean as the last time they were painted!
The Ultimate Challenge
By now I was sold on the efficacy of this little sponge but wanted to test it on something really hard to clean, something that normally requires an annual pressure-washing with extra-strength bleach, the algae that grows on our house behind the shrub borders.
By golly, a few strokes with the truly miraculous Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo and the wall was once again pristinely white! This Dragon is sold, on our next marketing trip a case of these things is coming home and the house will be white again, everywhere.
A Few Caveats
Unlike regular sponges, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo wears out while removing soil. When if came out of the envelop it was soft and thick, with my experiments it has gotten thinner and a few bits are missing. The instructions advise discarding when most of the white part is gone and that longevity will depend on the roughness of the surfaces being cleaned.
Dont eat it or let your pets or kiddos use it for a toy. And dont use it to remove soil from your skin, abrasions will likely occur (how is a good question as the white and blue parts of this cleaning marvel are very smooth to the touch.).
Test it on a small and inconspicuous place, just in case it destroys the finish of what you want to clean. I figure if it is that dirty, a few minor scratches wont make a bit of difference.
The Dragon Humbly Suggests
Go buy some of these, they come two to a box, and you wont regret it! I checked out the official P&G website (www.pg.com) to see if there were any coupons or samples being offered but did not find any for the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo . However, there are a few offers for other products that might be of interest to others, so check it out on your own.
