This is a great printer for the price. I am a part-time freelance photographer and with a Minolta negative/slide scanner and a little work in Photoshop I can get 4x6 and up to 8x10 prints to come out better than any photo lab. The colors are vibrant and they do not look they came from an inkjet printer (in fact the prints look more like cibachromes, even if the original scan was a negative). This also works great with my Nikon coolpix 995 and can create great looking prints for minimal cost.
The six individual inks work great for my uses. I often have to print 50 of the same image - so if one happens to have a lot of one color I just need to replace the individual cartridge (instead of having to throw away an entire color cartridge that still has other color ink left in it). After a year I have noticed large savings in the amount of ink I buy.
You can also hook up a digital camera or put a card directly in it to print without even having to turn a computer on. I did this once for a job when I borrowed a camera but didn't have the software, and it worked well and saved me a lot of hassle.
The inks seem to hold up to sunlight well. If you put a print under glass it should last as long as a photograph even in direct sunlight. If it isn't under glass and is exposed to sunlight everyday there will be slow fading, but not as drastic as the older Epson photo stylus inks.
At the highest quality setting, an 8x10 prints out in less than 4 minutes. It is also very quiet.
My next printer purchase will be the version of this that prints the larger sizes of paper.
