I bought this car brand new, 6 months ago thinking that I would be getting a dependable car that gets good gas mileage and is good for the environment. I have had more problems with this new car in the past 6 months than I have ever had with a used car.
Sticker states 47highway/51city. I get 43 on the highway, and consistently 22mpg in the city.
It has been looked at twice, and I have been told that since they don't know what is wrong with it, there mustn't be a problem. This is the 4th Honda that I have owned, and the only one that I have had anywhere near this many problems in such a small period of time.
This biggest draw to this vehicle is the well stated 650 miles to a tank. I drive to work half city, half highway. I average 415 miles per tank of gas. That's a far cry from 650. I've only broken the 500 mile mark on a tank of gas twice. The highest being 523. I didn't buy this car to beat on it, but even if I was a teenager that drove like Mario Andretti, that would not account for such a huge, consistent difference in the gas mileage.
I have proven to the dealership - Majestic Motors of RI that this vehicle is only getting 22mpg in the city and am getting a run around with them as well as the main Honda corporation.
Other problems that I have had in this vehicle -
1. The driver's side window was ridiculously slow (about 30 seconds to close the window). After fighting with the dealership twice, the finally agreed to fix it.
2. The car intermittently will not go into reverse. And I don't mean that it gives me a hard time going in, it won't go in at all unless I move the car forward and then try again. This happens at times when the car is cold, and I have to make a 3 point turn.
3. The directional control broke, again was an intermittent problem. Not the flashing bulb, but the physical piece that you move up and down to signal left and right.
4. The car has stalled twice for no apparent reason.
5. This car has no traction. Even in just 2" of snow, it is all over the road. I've had rear wheel drive vehicles that were better in snow than this car.
This car has the word "LEMON" written all over it. I'd hate to think that this is a common occurrence for these cars. The dealership feels that by not looking at the car a third time, that they are bypassing the lemon law.
If you are a small person (I'm just over 5' tall), you will find this car to be extremely comfortable, and very supportive on the back over long drives. However, my husband is just under 6'tall, and finds the car to be way too small for him and therefore uncomfortable.
It gives a soft, comfortable ride. Although the trunk space is small due to the hybrid battery being back there, it still holds quite a bit. Lighter outlet is in a bad position to the cup holders. If you have 2 large drinks in the cups holders, you cannot use the power outlet.
