First off, I can not believe this store has no reviews on it. It's such a fun site and even though the prices can lean toward the high mark, you can still find treasures you won't find elsewhere, if you're into that sort of thing and I am.
Now, I won't be reviewing the entire site since this is specifically for the shop it's self but let me say now that the whole shop is fun and filled with games and much info on all the Nickelodeon channel shows. Your child will have a blast on there and so will you! The shop is connected to the main site, of course, but yet separate.
I first discovered this store sometime back in April of 2004 when I started sweeping (entering sweepstakes). I had been to nick.com and messed around and let my son play on there as well but didn't actually realize I could order stuff from them as well. I've been hooked ever since.
Being the large Spongebob Squarepants fan that both my son and I are, we have found numerous items we'd never seen before and had to have. I don't think I'll ever grow up and quite frankly, I don't want to. So, I use this site to satisfy that inner kid in me.
The site is attractive to the eye in it's orange and white theme. Navigation is simple and easy to understand for even the youngest shopper. You can find what you want by using the top bar or the side navigation panel. Everything is broken down into show categories and from that point you can select the specific items you are looking for such as room decor, DVDs, or even costumes. Awesome! For an example, just go to the site then click on SpongeBob Squarepants from the show listings to the side then when you get to that page look to the side again and see that long list of goodies you can pick from. Unbelievable amount of stuff. That goes for any of the shows you may want to shop from from.
You may want to see what Nickelodeon recommends. They list those directly under the show listings and those links include: Best Sellers, Exclusives, New Products, Clearance, and Gift Certificates.
If you are not sure what you're looking for, you can shop by department. Rather than looking under a particular show, you can do to an area like gift sets, jewelry, or books. It's just so easy and there's so much fun stuff.
Nick carries these brands that are listed on their site: American Greetings,Chronicle Books, Emerson, Flying Colors
Golden Books, Gund, LeapFrog, Majestic Athletic, and Mattel. You can't beat that with a stick and these are trusted brands offered from the trusted name, Nickelodeon!
Ordering is easy as pie. They have a nice secure shopping cart that is simple to understand. Once you order, you can track that order with their handy, dandy tracking system. Orders are shipped promptly and I've not had one single problem getting an order on time, ever.
From time to time an item may not be available, though I find that is quite rare, however, they state clearly on each item what it's status is. What you'll see is this:
"In Stock," "Advanced Sale," "Release Date" or "Special Order.". If it's out of stock, you'll see "Advanced Sale". Any item you order that carries this status will be shipped to you when it becomes available if you choose to order anyway. If an item is not available at any time, well, they will not list it at all, unlike some other places I've shopped.
If you have an item personalized, such as monogramming, it will naturally take longer. But it's not too bad. They work pretty fast. I think they understand how impatient us kids can be. *wink* They will let you know when the item is expected to leave "their warehouse". They even offer "White Glove" delivery on some oversized items. Look below for an explanation of what exactly White Glove delivery is.
As per their website:
White Glove delivery is a premium delivery service. Items shipped via White Glove delivery will be delivered to your designated shipping address, brought inside, and carried to the room of your choice within two floors of the main level (unless a service elevator is present). Please note that set-up or assembly is not included in White Glove delivery service. We suggest you save the item's original box for a short time in case a return is required.
Nick.com uses manufacturer warranties, but they also have soft return policies.
All in all, I highly recommend shopping at the Nickelodeon Shop. It will show you a good time, you'll find cool stuff you haven't seen before, and will delight any child and even us grown-ups too! Check them out and while you're there, take a little bit of time to enter their sweepstakes. They list several and usually you'll see new ones up every month. You can't win if you don't enter and trust me, I've won my share in the past year.
