Thanks, Vincent.

I'd also check out the Infiniti G35.

Outstanding Review... (Reply to this comment)

Outstanding job on this review (as always). I am looking for a mid-sized sport sedan—its time—and the TL is on my short list along with the BMW 330i, and the Nissan Maxima (when are they going to build a two-door?). I found your review informative and very complete hitting all of the points needed to make an informed buying decision. Job well done!

Just take a cold shower and keep repeating to yourself, "The Acura TL has too much torque steer, so I really don't want it..."

Not working? Sorry, that's the best I could do.

Thanks for the compliment. I also find comparisons especially helpful, and recommend them to other reviewers. I used to try harder to drive at least one competitor the same day whenever I took a test drive, but haven't done this as much lately.

If you thought the automatic suffered from a lot of torque steer, the manual would thoroughly shock you. Takes torque steer to a whole new level compared to the automatic.

The gearing is already pretty tall. The real issue is too much torque for front wheel drive. And likely less than ideal suspension and halfshaft geometry. The gearing isn't the source of the torque steer.

As usual, you've done a superb job evaluating this car. I particularly enjoy the way you include direct comparisons to competing models.
I like the TL's new look a lot, and when I drove an automatic last year, I thought the torque steer was quite pronounced when accelerating from a stop and making a simltaneous turn. Do you know if they've changed the automatic's gearing since the 2004 run? Changing the ratio would definitely reduce torque steer, but, as you mentioned, at the cost of less thrust at lower speeds.
