About a year ago I dove into the world of SAT radio. I bought a Sirius reciever for my office and a used car which just happened to have an XM unit installed. I decided to pay for both and wait a few months to see which one I liked more. For my opinion on XM radio, check my other review. Safe to say, XM is the service I am still using.
Sirius programming is decent. I enjoyed the variety of music channels but the special programing left much to be desired. I found most of the radio shows to be boring and dry. The comedy channels were decent and played a nice variety of material, but whenever they had their original programming shows on I had to change the channel, very unfunny.
For the first month, despite the draw backs I was still kinda enjoying the service. Then I started losing the signal. The quality of my connection would waver by daily. For an hour or two I would get a great connection on the edge of my desk, then around noon it would start to break up and cut in and out. I would then have to move it to my shelf to get reasonably clear connection. This would cut out after a few hours as well. I was able to drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco with perfect service with my XM car unit, but I couldnt go from punch in time to lunch without having to reposition my office.
I tried contacting customer service, but after our or five e-mails the only response I got that wasnt a canned useless E-mail was the following.
Perhaps your unit was broken. (that is correct he used was and not is)
This whole fiasco ended with me purchasing another unit, me trying to make it so I would be payed for only one unit and that my subscription would be switched to the new one, me finding out that I did not get reception in my office (Right next to an open window), me taking unit home only to find I got poor reception at home, me getting charged two subscriptions for two units, me having a massive stroke, me canceling Sirius.
I have since that time bought a nice XM SAT Roady2 unit for my office and am enjoying it immensly.
In the end, Sirius programing isnt worth the trouble, let alone the monthly charge.
