| gallador15's Full Review: Phoenix Gold 2-Channel Power Amplifier XS2500 |
I bought this amp back in 98' or 99' and I am still very pleased with it. It still amazes me to this day the amount of power this amp puts out especially because of its
size. I'm running 2 15" T1 Fosgate subs in a slot ported
box. This amp makes my subs hit hard. My birth sheet said
536w Rms x1 @ 4 ohms and man it's powerful. I haven't had
any heat problems really with it, it will last a long time of hard hitting, it will be hot but it won't shut off on you easily.I think hot weather is the amps biggest enemy, especially in a car The size of this amp is small compared to bigger amps out there that put out the same wattage. Compared this Phoenix to a long, red Sony Xplod amp that claimed higher wattage. Tried both, both seemed about equal but the Phoenix was slightly harder hitting and the Sony
amp that was probably double the length of the Phoenix came out equal or slightly less....hmmmm.....The only problem I had with this amp is its unregulated power supply. Any amp with an unregulated power supply for me is a lost cause.
I have to push on the gas to 1500 rpm or more to get full power at idle, sitting at a light.
Other than that, this Phoenix XS is indeed powerful for it's small compact size, I don't think its a D-class, more likely A/B Class but definitely the size fools you !!
