| kamel622's Full Review: Clorox Bleach Pen |
I hadnt found a need to buy a Clorox Bleach Pen as I generally wear black or dark clothing and dont have counter tops with grout but my adult son, who is an optician, had a pen leak on his lab coat. He bought one of these pens and of course my first response was hey, I can write a review!
The Pen
The Clorox Bleach Pen is 6 inches long and has two different capped tips. One is a fine point tip and the other is a broad scrubber tip. It is recommended that you dont use the pen with both lids off of the pen at the same time.
This pen can be used on white fabrics, and is great on garments with just a portion of white, because you can direct where the bleach goes. It can also be used on grout/caulking and the areas around the tub and the sink.
The directions are pretty simple: Shake before using, Unscrew cap on chosen tip and gently squeeze to apply. On clothing they suggest that you rub it into the stain and then wash immediately. For household surfaces just apply to stain, rub, rinse or wipe clean. For tougher stains allow the bleach to sit on stain for 1 to 3 minutes before rinsing.
While it works on tough stains such as grass, red wine and tea, juices and mold or mildew stains they arent as confident that it will remove rust, permanent inks and dyes. In large letters the package tells you not to freeze the pen.
* This pen can be an eye irritant and the eyes should be flushed for 15 minutes with water if the product comes in contact with the eyes.
* If Swallowed drink a glass of water but do not induce vomiting, call a physician or poison control.
* Do not mix with other house cleaning products as hazardous gases may result.
* As with all household cleaners Keep out of reach of children!
This pen contains surfactants and hypochlorite bleach.
My Feelings
My son laid out his coat and proceeded to use the wider tipped end. He put some product on the ink stain and scrubbed the area with the tip. In some spots it seemed to be coming off quickly, while other spots needed a bit more scrubbing. When he was finished there were just two small spots that hadnt come completely off. Satisfied with the improvement he washed the lab coat in our washer and was very pleased at the end results.
The coat looked very clean and there was just the smallest trace of an ink stain, so small that it wasnt noticeable at all.
In writing this review I realize how little grout/caulking I do have in my home. I have a tub enclosure that is all one piece. The one place that I did see a bit of grime (oh yuck) was around the faucet edges. I applied the Clorox Bleach Pen using the fine tip, so as to be able to get it as close as possible to the faucet and enclosure edges. I let it sit for a minute and then used a rag to just wipe away the grime. It worked great! Ill be using it again to keep from having grime build up at all.
My son said he paid around $4.00 for this pen, and Im glad that we have it now. While he doesnt live with us, he lives right upstairs, so I know where to get a hold of this pen should I manage to stain something that needs bleaching.
