| iroc_z_forsale's Full Review: 2004 Ford F150 Regular Cab 4WD |
I bought the 2004 F-150 STX 4X4 with fog lamps, cruse, towing package, alarm, power locks, 3.55 rear end in blazing yellow.(Yeah its the flashiest color you can get it in) Everywhere you go people would look and stare. And being in Texas made everyone even more interested in staring at it. The interior of the truck is so quiet that you cannot hear the engine running(which was aggravating because I would end up grinding the starter thinking that it wasn't started yet.
This is where it gets good.
So I decided to stick a 40 series flowmaster on it and dump it off under the cab. This added alot of good sound and it cleaned up the body lines a little. I then stuck a K&N airfilter on it. This gave it a little extra hp but the transmission totally kills your power. I would try to pass someone on the highway and almost not make it because I didn't plan ahead. it would take up to 3 seconds to downshift.
Prepare to hand over an arm and leg every time you fill up. this truck averaged 12 to 14 mpg. thats with about 75% highway. and 100% of me putting my foot through the floor.
Oh yeah this truck is slow. with the K&N and the Flowmaster I estimate I was pushing 270 hp and it felt like there was more like I was hauling a trailer or something.
I bought this truck looking at how flashy it was. I ended up hating it. Cops love yellow. It's not very good off road. parking is not easy. the windows take 10 times around to roll up or down(I want to roll my window down not get a workout). the factory radio wasn't that good so I stuck a 1500 watt 2 amp sound system in it with one sub and that helped out alot. But I think 1500 watts might be overkill in a single cab truck(plus it creates a vacuum inside).
ALso the 40 series flowmaster wasn't anywhere near as loud as I thought it would be.
P.S. make the dealer throw in a free bedliner, towing package, running boards, wheels, alarm, remote start, and anything else you can get away with
