You're quite right - they did win. But to me, it's another example of how credit card companies scheme and swindle customers. I have no problem with them making money, but some of the things they do are usury, pure and simple. I used to work for one, and part of the reason I quit was the methods they employed.

Marty, I don't follow your logic. If you pay it off each month, then who cares what the interest rate is? I'd take full advantage of the 3% points with amazon purchases, use it only for amazon purchases and continue to pay it in full and get the best revenge of all - getting the better end of the deal.
Right now, they have accomplished what they wanted - they got a user who was getting the best deal from them to quit using the card...

Anyone else experiencing shipping delays? (Reply to this comment)
by kzanne
I'm searching for other Amazon cardholders who have experienced inexplicable shipping delays when redeeming gift certificates they earned with the card.
I've had my Amazon Visa for a couple of months and have already redeemed my first $25 certificate. I did business with Amazon for many years before I got the card, and I've never seen it take more than a couple of days for them to ship items listed as "ships within 24 hours." Well, this time, it has taken at least 2 weeks; they still have not shipped an order I placed on March 30. Yesterday, I called customer service, and a nice Indian man told me my order would be shipped that day (April 12). A check of the web site this morning indicates he wasn't telling the truth; the order still hasn't shipped - even though their estimated arrival window began on April 12.
Has Amazon deemed reward certificate redeemers unworthy of its normal order processing speed? What's going on here?

Watch out! (Reply to this comment)

I have this card and loved it - until they jacked my rate from 14.49% to 29.99%, citing my credit score. However, my credit score is above 750, so that's a ridiculous comment. I had paid off this card, and was earning far too many gift certificates off of them, so they gave me an incentive to leave via the ridiculous APR.
How do I know it was fixed - they offered me another Amazon Platinum card (the same one I already have) at the low introductory rate of 0%... if my credit was so bad, why would I get offered their competitive rate?
It's a shame because I loved this card, but I refuse to use it now. I'm not paying interest, so the APR is inconsequential, but the idea of how they went about it angers me enough to realize I should have never gotten involved with First USA/Bank One/Chase in the first place.
