Pros: Reads cd-rw just fine, compatible with most brands.
Cons: Anti-shock is a joke,battery life is poor,not very solid-looking...
The Bottom Line: If you care about the sound quality of your player, than this is not the one for you.If you simply want a player that fits your budget than buy it.Why not?

| melgapin's Full Review: A-MAX DAV310 Personal CD Player |
When I first bought my Napa Dav310 Mp3 players were still a very recent thing.
Appart from MpTrip (which was a bit more expensive) Napa was the only decent player around that read cd's instead of using flash memory technology.
I burned my music into cd-rw's and left my player charging for the night so I could use it the next morning.I was so excited that I didn't even realise it was already fully charged...big waste of time.
Anyway,I used the player the next day like I planned.I used it on and off, during my bus rides, while I went to college...
At this time I had my first big disappointment : while I was walking (not running),it skipped like crazy. At this time I still hadn't found the anti-shock feature, but as soon as I found it,there wasn't much change. It kept skipping just like before.Anti-shock my a**!!Bah!
And as if this wasn't enough the features are very hard to grasp.
There is a 'p' mode that allows access to random play and repeat. Then there is an 'o' mode that allows access to an 'a' mode, which is anti shock (or ESP). Can you get more complicated than this?
As in many mp3/cd players, the 'skip/ffw' feature doesn't fast forward mp3's, only cd's.You can't win them all...
The remote is a cool extra, along with the audio cable. You can connect the player to your stereo, lay on the couch and operate it from there...
The video support is nice.Good images, cool sound.Again the remote proves to be of use. Maybe DAV310 is meant to be a video player instead of mp3...Who knows? The problem is it only supports VCD, which means about 45 min of video - not much.
However, even when playing video, the player is too difficult to operate. Too many features for just one button, if you know what I mean...
As a Cd player I found it to be really good. The 'Bass Booster' works much better with audio CD rather than with mp3 and the player itself allows a few more things.Playing audio CD's, it lets you choose the sound mode (intensity of sound in the left and right channels) and change the tone in the music (this only is useful if you have a music in a much higher tone than the original) - but really, who needs this?
My next disappointment was the battery life...By the end of the day I had used the player about 5 or 6 times (20min/half-hour each) and the battery was dead.
And the earphones - argh! - it should be forbidden to call those things 'earphones'...Forget them!
The only thing I kept thinking was 'thank god it wasn't expensive!'
The bottom-line is : this is not a player to carry around in your backpack unprotected. If you can't afford any other, then I recommend this one over MpTrip. But Napa has the DAV311 which is good...not great, but good.
If you don't mind the extra bucks then try the Mp3/CD player by Aiwa or the Philips Expanium which are far better than Napa Players.
