Netflix is 10 times better than Blockbuster.com! (Reply to this comment)
by mozartopera
I have tried both Netflix and Blockbutster.com.
Heres the deal:
Netflix has more titles!
Netflix has a more user-friendly website!
Netflix has easier website navigation tools!
Movies get to you faster with Netflix!
I have found that though they both boast having over 25,000 titles, the key is the word "over." Netflix has more of a selection than Blockbuster.com.
The Second main reason why Netflix is better is because of their user-friendly website. Netflix has really streamlined the process and they make it easy to maneuver around their website.
It really irritated me that Blockbuster had movies listed that you couldn't even rent! Unlike with Netflix, you couldn't put it in your Queue for when it came out on DVD; Blockbuster just wanted you to buy the movie from them.
[At first you just think that you can't find the link to put it in your cue, but then you realize that you can't rent it.]
Netflix eliminates all of the unnecessary steps of adding a movie to your queue; you see the movie listing, then you click add and that is all there is to it. With Blockbuster, you see the movie, then you click more information, THEN you can click add to your Queue, and then it still takes you to another page! In the time it takes me to add 1 Blockbuster movie, I could have added 3-4 on the Netflix website.
Also, Blockbuster doesn't have an easy link to go back to the last search you were on, while Netflix does.
The third reason Netflix is better is because the movies get to you faster. This is simply because Netflix has more distribution centers than Blockbuster. With Netflix I could get 3 movies a week and with Blockbuster, I could only get 2 movies a week!
And finally, Netflix's website is simple; it is not over complicated with tons of links. They really need to better-organize that site. At home I have 56k and compared with Netflix, Blockbuster is SO SLOW, because there is so much for the browser to load!
Look you can try out Blockbuster, but I barely even wanted to use it during my trial period, because it just took so long to order and receive the movies. (And I love movies!)

Ecstatic so far (one month) (Reply to this comment)
by HDPorter
We're just into our second month of membership and thus far the experience has been astonishing. We're on the "unlimited" rental plan, 3 movies out at any time - $19.95 fee.
More often than not we're seeing 2 day turnaround ... one day there and one day back. A key factor is that we're in Philadelphia with a distribution center just 15 miles away. That kind of turnaround has left us breathless and the only cap on the number of movies we can effectively rent each month comes down to our own initiative in dropping the returns into the mailbox. We viewed 15 movies in our first month.
We more than pleased with the movie selection available and love the feature where we can queue up our future rentals so that turnaround is a no-brainer. We may benefit a bit from not having a "must see" attitude about the latest releases. We're particularly keen on catching up on the tons of foreign titles out there that we haven't seen and have enjoyed a far better selection than in the average non-specialty rental store. We did have one disc that was defective. We simply returned it, noting the problem and requesting a replacement and we were viewing it just 2 days later.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be every bit as enthusiastic six months down the road but thus far I see nothing that makes me think it will be otherwise. Netflix has transformed our rental experience. Now if we could just get someone to deliver our milk and eggs :)

Netflix Review (Reply to this comment)
by mcalca1706
Netflix is fast. Within a few days of returning a movie, a replacement arrives. Typically within 2 to 3 days.
My one problem with Netflix is the flimsy envelope used to transport the DVDs. there should be at least some cardboard for protection. Maybe because of this, some of the DVDs are in bad shape. Scratches, smudges and other defects. Remarkably the picture usually plays fine.
Most of my rentals are older movies so I don't know how long it takes for new titles.
I give them high marks for speed and availability but low marks for protecting the DVD.
It's 20$ for three DVD's out at a time.

Netflix Good idea But!!! (Reply to this comment)
by toliverj01
I tried Netflix for over a year. Before they opened the east coast branch, I always got the movies I wanted in a timely manner. After the
new branch opened ( on the east coast) I could not get any of the current releases I wanted. I had to cancel at that point because it was not worth the money. If you only want old releases you should have no problem.

I don't know about you, but NETFLIX unlimited rental sounds good, UNTIL you realize that there is a TWO WEEK turn around for the movies.
Netflix is on the West Coast! If I mail a movie, they don't send another until they RECEIVE the return (a week later, with processing) Only then do they mail the next movie and IF YOU"RE LUCKY, the whole thing takes two weeks-sometimes more.
So, in reality, NETFLIX IS not that unlimited and it's not that cheap.
Oh and try to contact them if there is a problem. NO PHONE NUMBER is easily found. Try another service if you're on the East Coast! And if you want a service you can REACH (gasp) forget Netflix.
