| wessir's Full Review: Compaq Presario 1700-XL275 |
I loved this laptop for the first week, it has power, is lightweight, and was reasonably priced. A co-worker purchased the same at about the same time. Her modem failed in the first month and she had to return the notebook to Compaq for repairs. It took more than 2 weeks for the repairs. Within 3 months mine also had a hardware failure; the video card burned out. I sent to Compaq almost 2 weeks ago and have not heard from them either way, I have no idea when I will be getting it back. It's not surprising there are hardware failures, this thing runs HOT! Almost too hot to use on your lap! Don't be fooled by the 'JBL Pro Audio', it sounds no better than the competition, sounds tinny like you would expect from 1 inch speakers. If you buy, get the extended warranty and be prepared for long waits if/when you need repairs.
