Petra,
Many thanks for this most interesting review of one of Los Angeles' hardest working studio percussionist/producer/teacher. His work fits a lot of different genres, making it somewhat hard to pigeon-hole, but, heck, who wants to when you can just describe it and let people come to there own conclusions?
