| firesgar's Full Review: Harman Kardon TC 1000 Take Control Universal Remot... |
If you are a big entertainment nut like myself, you probably have you're VCR, DVD player, CD player, and Television all set up into a home speaker system for some great surround sound. Now when you want to watch a DVD, you have to first turn on the DVD player, then goto the surround sound receiver, and then switch on the TV to the right input. This alone requires 3 remotes. There is an easier way.
Just to clarify, if you are even considering buying the Harmon Kardon remote, you definitely have enough money to the point where shelling out 350 dollars won't put a dent in your pocket even the slightest bit. The remote does cost $350 and can be found at most internet shopping sites and Best Buy and Circuit City. For $350, you probably are expecting one amazing remote control.
The first perk to the "Take Control" is its ease of programming. It comes with a booklet for each type of entertainment device you might have and then has an auto programming mechanism which programs the information for each system into the remote. It also has a memory feature like a speed dial, so that if you want to watch a Video, you can push one button to turn on the VCR, TV, and Surround Sound all in one button.
The remote doesn't look like any ordinary remote either. It is sort of like a Palm Pilot and works in the same manner. It has a touch screen instead of having obtrusive buttons and is pretty delicate. If you were to drop a drink on it, you might crack the surface, which is one hazard to having this over a normal remote. You can program up to 20 different systems into this remote and have them all work simultaneously.
The Harmon Kardon "Take Control" really does take control of your home entertainment system and is a great addition to your entertainment experience. You will definitely appreciate the ease it brings to the use of your equipment.
