The Dust of Her Footprints....

Jan 13 '03 (Updated Oct 09 '07)

The Bottom Line You Know Her As Lorace....

Dreams deep in the night weave tapestries of someone else’s life into the sounds and scenes of my present;
A warm cup of coffee awakens a scene of a mother and daughter laughing in the night, watching late night movies and dunking toast in our mugs;
A piano playing transports me to a living room where she is lovingly caressing the keys, and I am trying to sing along;
A shape of a letter, so beautiful, drives me to a piece of paper where I practice to capture her art of it;
A word written by her, speaks to me through the paper, and I laugh and cry;
Who is this shadow who leads me – the dust of her footprints guide and inspire me in dark places?
Oh, I cherish that smiling face, a lady of talents, inspiration and grace;
My mother – your Lorace.

-------- Update 2007 -------------
Lovely night on the southwestern desert
October 3rd to be exact
Rustling of angels wings stirred the stillness
As the Lady made her exit
Carol was her given name
Eternity was welcoming Lorace

I am sad and yet glad to announce to the Epinions Community she loved, that Carol has left the burdens of this world and is with her Savior Jesus Christ and her family and friends who went before her. She put up a valiant fight after suffering a broken hip at the end of March 2007. It appeared she would be in recovery and return home; however, the COPD she suffered with for several years would not release its grip. I know she would want to admonish all of her friends and family to please take care of your lungs – you only live on this Earth once and the process of the disease is a horrendous experience for you and your loved ones. If you smoke, please try to quit.

She was laid to rest yesterday, October 6th – on her first granddaughter’s 36th birthday. It was a beautiful day – in the 80’s, with a breeze – her family gathered round and remembered her. She loved others – and she was loved.

Goodbye Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Carol, Lorace – we’ll see you again.

On a personal note…. I want to thank all of you at Epinions who have written me, who prayed for my Mom, who thought of her over the last few months, who sent her cards and flowers. It meant so much to her and to me…. She will be missed.

Jeni
