...Febreze "Air Effects" qualifies. It is one of a very few kinds that I consider worth the price.
First, I have a problem with many of the cheaper air fresheners because of some chemical, whether in the propellant or what, that I have an allergic reaction to. In fact, that sharply limits the brands I can use. I picked this product out because of good experience with the Febreze fabric freshener, and my faith in the brand name was rewarded. No anaphylactic reaction. :-)
Second, another sorry trait of the less expensive brands seems to be that they don't eliminate the odor, or even mask it very effectively - the result seems to be a mix of the traditional lavatory "eau de phew" with a heavy artificialized (usually floral) scent. By contrast, the Febreze air freshener seems to actually eliminate (or at the very least, heavily minimalize) the objectionable odors and replace them with a pleasant, subtle scent.
Yes, this product (and others of like quality) is more expensive than most of the competition. Don't let it put you off. Try it. My finances aren't in Bill Gates' league either, but I'd rather pay more for a product that is this much better than the cheaper brands. Another upshot - you use less (a little goes a long way) and it lasts longer.
