THE DRIP
Jan 20 '04
The Bottom Line Brrrr....
I have this place in the middle of my face
to the north of my uppermost lip
now this might sound silly but when it turns chilly
it's home to a dirty big drip
When the north wind blows and screams up my nose
and chills me to the marrow of my bone
I can hear a pitter-patter and a regulated splatter
like the ticking of a little metronome
I used to work outside where there's no place to hide
from the cruel lazy north sea breeze
lazy? yes it's true for it won't go round you
but slices clean through with great ease
In inclement weather rain snow .... whatever
I can feel people stare when I'm talking
to all those I meet when I'm out on the street
I just wipe that drip off and keep walking
When I'm out chopping logs or walking my dogs
the drip is a constant worry
but I've no axe to grind and the dog's in my mind
just poetic licence I'm sorry
Oh winter's a bore when you're froze to the core
and the howling wind nips at your ears
you can shiver and tremble until you resemble
a jelly with ice cubes for tears
I should just stay indoors watch the rain while it pours
runs in sheets down the window but still
it's no warmer at home I should get on the phone
and just pay that electric bill
S'there a point to this ode? no it's only a road
a method that you can avail
to point and to guide so your mouse it will slide
and click on A Winter's Tale
Thanks for reading
