Within & Silent Tribute Two Poems
Feb 08 '04
The Bottom Line The first poem was two short to post by itself so I had to put two short ones together.
Within
There is a soul within me
that I have not met.
Turning my back, on my true self,
I live life as a construct.
Angel sings in my ear when I sleep,
I feel the spiritual love.
Waking pains me;
I long to slumber once again.
Yearning for meaning
in an open ended
drama.
What is there to take from this experience?
Something larger pulls at me,
asking me to find it, my inner being.
I look outward,
because I do not know
how to look within.
Silent Tribute
Jesus who are you?
The lion who sleeps
until the twenty third hour
and makes his presence known.
The lord,
who is misunderstood,
sitting on a hollow throne, bathed in sin.
A good man, named god,
who's greatest contribution is turned against him.
You wanted to bring men together
and thousands of years later
we are no closer to unity.
I feel sorry for you,
when I look at your face,
as you hang from the cross.
You knew you had failed,
there you are the most human;
there you are real.
