Tender Love (Reply to this comment)

Thanks, now I have to go dig it up and listen to it - the piano alone is worth the effort....
I must say though - I loved John Waite with The Babys and his first solo album. Doesn't mean I like Missing You any less, though..
Nice list!

"Sting penned the words and much has been made of the fact that when he wrote it he was in the middle of breaking up with his first wife Frances Tomelty. Although it has been subsequently denied many saw it as a possessive reaction to the split. In later interviews however Sting did concede that writing songs helped him through this very difficult time as he "processed the grief of it through songwriting and performing".
At the end of 1983, in an interview with Annie Nightingale, Sting also revealed that "Every Breath You Take" was a song about unrequited love

I seriously think you should remove "Every Breath You Take" from this list. It's always been so misinterpreted as a love song and as I read the lyrics and heard what Sting said over the years, it's not a love song. It's a song about stalking and to put this song in a list of love songs seems wrong and very disturbing. I seriously think you should remove this. It's so misleading.

When the Karaoke place we used to go to got in a bunch of new CD's, one of them was Bruce Springsteen's (supposed) greatest hits, and I remember I asked if "Brilliant Disguise" was one of them and they responded "Nope." At that point I finally just gave up 'cause apparently I was the only person on the planet who gave a shi about this song.
Needless to say, I'm beyond excited to see it on your list :) Yet another one I really would've liked to have remembered, but didn't. Alass.
Good to see "Father Figure" and "And So It Goes" (incidentally, I make mention of that song in my next review) and whatever that other one was. Like I said, I'm feeling pretty apathetic today. Gotta get that nap, that's all there is to it.
See ya at the top of the world!
