3 Days ago as I was returning from shopping, I came across a package on my front porch. Apparently FedEx had dropped it off. Took the package inside and opened the box up. What I found inside was a very attractive light blue decorated box. I removed the lid from the box, and was greeted with a light scent, which I knew was from a candle. Down in the middle of the box was a candle in a glass holder that was packed in a plastic container.
It took me a few minutes to finally remove the candle from that little plastic container. I finally got it open and saw that it was a red Febreze candle in a 5.5 ounce glass holder that measured 3-1/4 inches by 3-3/4 inches. The scent of the candle was Apple Spice & Delight. Now I couldn't wait to try it out.
According to the directions that came with the candle, it's suppose to eliminate odors while it freshens the air. Once the wax melts, the core in the center of the candle is suppose to eliminate household odors. I cut some of the wick off, as it was too long and lit the candle. In a matter of about 15 minutes, I could smell a nice apple spicy aroma. I was hoping it wouldn't be a very strong scent, as I do get headaches from strong smelling candles, and I usually only burn vanilla and sometimes cinnamon candles. As the candle continued to burn, I was pleased with the scent. It had a nice fresh and clean scent, that wasn't overpowering. Each Febreze candle is also suppose to have a burn time up to 30 hours.
OTHER SCENTS THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN JULY:
Meadows & Rain
Spring & Renewal
Linen & Sky
Vanilla & Refresh
And of course the Apple Spice & Delight.
The costs of the Febreze Candles will be priced any where from $6.99 to $7.99
That night for dinner my husband was going to barbecue chicken on the grill, and we were going to have baked potatoes along with a mixture of broccoli and cauliflower for our veggies. As my husband was preparing the chicken on the grill, I was cooking up the veggies on the stove. And you know how nasty a kitchen can sometime smell, especially when cooking up cauliflower and broccoli together. I even placed the Febreze Candle on my kitchen counter, hoping that it would eliminate the smell of the veggies.
When my husband finished doing the chicken on our grill, he came back into the kitchen, and I asked him if he could smell the veggies that I had prepared for our dinner. He said yes he could still smell the broccoli and cauliflower odor in the kitchen. Anyway I kept the candle burning on my counter, figuring it was going to take a little while longer to get rid of the veggie smell. I couldn't tell because all I could smell was the spicy apple scent. We ate our dinner and I washed the dishes up. I went outside for a minute or two and then came back in to see if the veggie odor was gone. Nope, the veggie smell was still lingering in my kitchen. I even let the candle burn for another 2 hours, in the kitchen which didn't even touch the smell of the veggies.
My husband did say that while he was barbecuing the chicken on our grill, which is located just outside of our back door, he said that every now and then he could actually smell the fragrance of the candle because my kitchen windows were open.
That same night my husband decided to make popcorn in our microwave. He can eat popcorn, but I can't. So I just enjoy the aroma of the popcorn popping. But you know as the popcorn was popping in the microwave I couldn't smell that nice popcorn aroma that usually fills the kitchen. Yup you guessed it the Febreze Candle eliminated that wonderful popcorn smell, that I needed to smell. So as my husband enjoyed his popcorn, and I made myself a nice ice cream sundae.
The next morning my oldest son was coming over to change the water filter under our sink. He's a heavy smoker and always smells of cigarette smoke. Now if I happen to be out when he comes over I can always tell that he was here, because I can detect a little cigarette smell in my kitchen even after he has left. Anyway that morning that he was coming over I had to go and teach 14 senior citizens their weight training exercises, which takes two and half hours. When I got home they were eating lunch. When I went into the kitchen, I did smell a faint cigarette smell from my son. So I got out my Febreze Candle and lit it. He left soon after. After an hour I noticed the cigarette smell was gone. I think the Febreze Candle does a nice job on odors that aren't very strong, but as far as eliminating strong odors the Febreze candle falls short on doing the job.
I even fixed fried cabbage one nite for my husband which he loves, and the Febreze Candle didn't eliminate any of the cabbage smell. I'm sure now that when I fix fish for dinner the Febreze candle won't do a good job on eliminating the fish odor either.
CAUTIONS:
As with any lit candles, a candle should always be carefully watched especially if you have small children or even pets. And always keep a candle on a heat resistant surface. Whenever I lite any candles, I have a small 4 inch square ceramic candle plate that I set my candles on. And this is where I place the Febreze candle on every time I lite it.
The decorative box that was in the inside of the cardboard box that the Febreze Candle came packed in is really nice. It's a light blue with a cute outdoor scene all around it. It's a sturdy box that now holds some of my crafting items in.
Proctor & Gamble did a nice job on packaging the Febreze Candle. Being the candle holder is glass, it was double boxed and was wrapped in bubble wrap, so there was no breakage during shipping.
My FINAL THOUGHT:
I am pleased with the nice fresh fragrance of the Febreze Apple Spice candle, and I'd like to try the Vanilla & Fresh scent when it becomes available in July. I only wish the candles were a little less expensive. Maybe I'll wait to see if Febreze comes out with a few cent off coupons first. Even though the Febreze Candle didn't remove certain food odors, the scent from the Apple Spice Candle filled my home with a nice fresh fragrance leaving my home smelling really nice. The scent is very easy to tolerate and it didn't leave my home with an overpowering scent like some other candles did that I've tried.
I'd like to thank Proctor & Gamble for sending me this free Febreze Candle to test out which made it easy for me to write a review on.
Thanks for reading!!
