| Suzer's Full Review: Seville Classics Cool Giant Oval Tower Fan |
As I live in Venice, California, seemingly close to the beach with enviable summer breezes, you may be surprised to hear that my home is horribly hot and uncomfortable during the summer. I think of three months of summer with dread.
Generally I have a few fans in the house, but 2 of my fans were not very efficient or cooling, and the other simply too small to be of much use. As if reading my mind, my next door neighbor asked me if I would like a couple of tower fans as they were going to get air conditioning throughout their home. Of course I agreed, but I needed to clean them off thoroughly, and was warned that they were somewhat old and may not be great. Apparently they had been sitting in their garage for quite a while.
I was particularly impressed with the Seville Classics Cool giant Oval Tower Fan due to its sleekness, ability to fit just about anywhere without taking up much space. The blades on this fan are considered mini turbine and they are placed vertically. They claim that the airflow will therefore be non-turbulent. The wind direction works horizontally in 5 varying directions.
Benefits:
*~* 3 different speeds
*~* Oscillates
*~* 2 hour timer
There are 4 buttons to adjust the speed. They are stop, low, medium and of course high.
Dimensions:
This fan is approximately 3 1/2 feet tall and 22 inches in width.
Assembly:
As I got free from my neighbor I didn't have the thrill of
ascertaining how much assembly would be required, but I'm guessing it would be minimal.
Maintenance:
The instruction manual states that the fan should be maintained by an electrician. Not sure I want to hire an electrician to maintain this fan. Too costly. Hmmm, perhaps I should marry one? Might be more cost-effective.
Or not. . .
Safety:
Instructions for safe installation, care too lengthy to go into, and certainly too boring for you guys. I suggest if you decide to purchase this fan, just read the manual carefully so you don't injure yourself.
My experience:
This fan cleaned up very easily and painlessly even though it sat in a garage for who knows how long. While it is easy to turn it on, the buttons are a little difficult to figure out. I found that trial and error works best, as the icons don't mean anymore to me, than the icons on foreign cars. I personally do not utilize the oscillating function much at all. I am hot and uncomfortable sitting at my computer and reclining in front of the tv, so want the fan pointing right at me and on medium or high. Of course if I have the television on, the lower speeds are quieter. I use the 2 hour timer if I am going to be in the living/dining room for a couple of hours before going to sleep. Otherwise I just keep it on.
Final thoughts:
There are no negatives with this fan. It is excellent at keeping my cool and comfortable which allows me work at the computer, relax in front of the television, read. As it is tall my dogs cannot plop themselves in front of it allowing for their comfort (critical of course) and my frustration. It looks nice, elegant, takes up very little room. I am very impressed with this fan. As my neighbors used it for a few years, it is obviously durable on top of its efficacy. I am giving it 5 stars.
I recommend it for anyone requiring a nice looking, slim, trim, very efficient fan that will truly cool!
By the way, the photo of the fan is currently on the "details page". It is a pale gray.
Thanks for reading!
