Pros: Great to have when all three functions are okay.
Cons: When one fails, the whole set needs attention.
The Bottom Line: I would not buy this or any triple play unit. Better to buy all three, separate. You would never have to take all three into the shop at once.

If you buy this unit, you better hope that both the VCR unit and the DVD unit stays functioning, as well as the picture unit itself. Or you may be sorry you bought it.
Just two months apart, both the DVD and VCR units have failed. It is not worth the trouble to take it to a shop and have one unit fixed, because you might have to take it back again.
When the Triple Play unit functioned correctly, the closed-captioning worked well. There was no need to use the subtitles on most DVD programs so long as the built-in closed-captioning feature worked.
After the DVD player failed, I bought a separate DVD player which I connected to the triple play unit. Since then, the exterior DVD player is not compatible with the triple play unit.
After one part of the VCR unit failed due to the rewinding mechanism, when not reviewing a segment that was missed, I used another VCR to rewind the tape. Perhaps I should hoop up the other VCR to the triple play unit, and pretend the triple play unit is just a TV only.
If you really need to buy a triple play unit, consider an alternative. If you want to tape something while watching another program, you can't. Better to have a separate VCR hooked up to the unit.
Now if one has a DVR hooked up to the triple play unit, that would be better. But I do not have a DVR unit, and I really don't see the need to get one.
