Color me an optimist, but if this song doesn’t get you into a good mood then nothing will! A few years ago, I went through the uncertainty of the utter fear of having cancer – thank God it wasn’t. But the morning when I went to my doctor to get my results, I heard this song on the radio while driving and something inside of me was suddenly calmed – I felt at peace. So this song will always hold a wonderfully bitter-sweet memory for me…

Okay…let me be clear: I never did have designs on "getting" a guy on the first date. lol My main concern was making a true, honest impression of who I was, upfront, so that the guy didn’t have any questions about what to expect. But… IF I was interested in him, big time, then by all means, I did my best to make him remember me. Case in point – my husband. (smile)

A few artists have tried to duplicate this song, but I can promise you this… no one on the face of the earth can sing it like Etta James did. This song is special to me because it’s one of the songs that my husband and I danced to after we were married just over a year ago. We’ve known each other since we were 11 years old, separated by years and years, and so when we "At Last" found each other again, we knew that we’d come full circle….

Learning A Lesson: "Only Time" - Enya…
When I hear this song, the first thing I think of is when 3,000 of our cherished and irreplaceable loved ones were brutally murdered on a crisp, beautiful, clear day, September 11, 2001. Dealing with this horrific tragedy seemed almost impossible, and "only time" will get us through it, today and forevermore…

Deep Thought: "A Perfect Day" – Roger Whittaker & daughter, Jessica…
This will be a lengthy explanation so please bear with me. I was incredibly close to my beloved Dad. We shared a friendship that I know I will never be blessed with again. Dad died suddenly from a brain aneurysm at the young age of 44, just after I turned 20 years old, and I truly thought my life had fallen apart, along with my family’s. Even to this day, soon to be 20 years later, there’s a loss inside of me that will never be closed. When I was married on August 14, 2003, my husband, knowing how much I was missing my dad on this special day, got into my CD collection and pulled this CD out. As he put it into the CD player, he told me that since my Dad and I couldn’t have our traditional father – daughter dance together, then he would take my Dad’s place, just for those few moments' time. He knew how much I love this song, and how very much I miss my precious Dad. So this is the song, in its entirety, that he played for me, "A Perfect Day", by Roger Whittaker and his daughter, Jessica. Yes, it still makes me cry and it always will……..
