The Tennessean is the newspaper that most Middle Tennessee people count on for their source of information. It is a Gannett Newspaper and comes out daily. It is the biggest newspaper that Tennessee has. The newstand price is .50 Monday through Saturday and $1.75 on Sunday.
It has the following sections during the week: Local News, Sports, Living and Business. The Friday edition includes a separate section called "Weekend". The Sunday edition has extra sections including: Arts & Entertainment, Travel and Home. There is also a much
bigger jobs listings, real estate listings and regular classifieds on Sunday. In the Sunday edition you will also find sale ads from all of the local stores and grocery coupons too.
The first section of The Tennessean is always about news around the world. There are lots of articles and always photos with the articles.
"Brad About You" is a regular column written by Brad Schmitt. He always has the latest gossip about various celebrities from singers to movie stars. He also includes a daily celebrity birthday list and a "on this date in history" facts listing.
Letters to the Editor is a regular column that gives readers a chance to have their voice heard. Liz Sharer is the letters editor and can be reached at (615) 259-8026.
The Local Section always has the latest local news including death notices. The weather information page provides a great deal of information including: 5-day forecast, Tennessee temps for today, highs & lows, national forecast, travel forecast for national & international,
heat index, record temps, air quality index, allergy index,
moonrise/set, sunrise/set, precipitation and Tennessee lake levels.
The Sports Section gives you all of the latest sports stories. You will find the AL scoreboard, NL scoreboard, Leaders on the American League & National League, Box Scores, Today on the Mound, College Football, Pro Football, Local Golf, Pro Soccer, High School Football, Boxing and much more.
The Business Section includes business articles, classifieds and the stock tables. The job section is huge, especially on Sunday. Anyone looking for a job must get a copy of The Tennessean for help in their search. It has also recently been very helpful to my step-daughter in locating a place to rent as well as buying some furniture.
The Living Section includes Horoscopes, Crossword Puzzle, Bridge Game, Movie Listings, Today's Hot Spots, Comics and TV Listings. You will also find regular question and answer columns with Abigail Van Buren (Dear Abby) and Ann Landers. Engagements, wedding and birth announcements are also featured in this section.

My Thoughts of The Tennessean:
This paper has been around for as long as I can remember. Often The Tennessean will have a special edition when something major has happened. It is these copies that I always want to keep a copy of for future generations. I trust the writers that work for The Tennessean to bring accurate and up to date information. This is the only newspaper in middle Tennessee and it is all we need. It provides everything I could ever need in a newspaper.
I don't have time to read it during the week so I do not subscribe to it, but I always get the Sunday paper. The coupons that I clip from that edition always pays for the paper and much more over.
I especially love the coverage they provide on country music information. My friend who reads the paper daily always tells me about upcoming concerts, CD signings and other happenings around town. The paper is really helpful in letting us know what is going on before it happens.
Every Sunday they include a special LIFE section. It is like a newspaper type magazine. It has a feature article as well as other articles and information. I love that it includes the showcase with a full line up of what is going to be on television.
I highly recommend this newspaper to anyone wanting numerous articles, quality photos and all types of information.
