Best review and tribute to ORIGINAL 4 TOPS (Reply to this comment)

What a wonderfully thorough review of my favorite
vocal group, their music is all you say, and Levi's voice....I'll never forget the first time I heard him...and I'm 65, now.
I have all their "stuff" on vinyl, on tape, and
all have been replaced on cd.
Thanks for a beautiful article, so sad that the Tops had to grow old, so sad that some had to pass on. But, they will always be heard, even my grandkids know who they are.

You sound a little confused here for some reason? I agree that piracy of Music, Movies or anything for that matter is a CRIME. But what does that have to do with the "Four Tops" or any of the comments below, you have totally lost me?

I don't know what do these high school friends have anything to do with the music Industry. I wish people stop thinking of ways to get free music by way of piracy from the peer to peer web sites and incur the wrath of the music industry that has high priced lawyers to deal with the Pirates.

I wish the deep pocketed music industry supports the efforts described at http://newerawisp.blogspot.com to defeat the music piracy by taking the power of piracy and hacking away from them by developing a new mehod of delivery of the Internet service.

But since this site is about teens music industry would not be expected to find ideas to wipe out piracy and hacking at this site.

Re: Text Bug! - Can you believe how long they stayed together? (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
It's so unheard of in the Music industry to have all original members be together for so long it just boggles my mind. As far as the crazy characters, thanks to Mike I now know how to fight that stupid bug with insecticide. As far as The Monkees they are the only GREAT exception as far as I am concerned.

Text Bug! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
So! That's what that was!

I remember posting a comment somewhere and seeing something in it that looked as if I were cussing between the letters, and I thought it was somehow my fault.

My computer seems to take so much time to do every little thing that I've recently been skipping previewing my comments and just posting them "as is."

Therefore, I wasn't surprised to see what I perceived to be one of the strangest typos I've ever made.

Nice to know it wasn't my fault after all!

Again, a great review of a really talented group--and thanks for all of that very early background!

It's always nice to go back to the beginning to see how it all began, and this one played out like a nostalgic movie!

What a reminder that, at one time in our history, a group like this was actually formed via "real life" instead of someone in a boardroom deciding that they were going to create a "boy band" and then have people apply for the job--though can't say that this is necessarily all bad. After all, it worked in the case of The Monkees!

Even so, I love the rich history that the performers of our time brought into their climb up the ladder--a climb that has The Four Tops and others still well-known more than 40 years later!

Cheers!

Re: So Sorry That...... - Thanks Deb, glad you liked it (Reply to this comment)

As you have read they were one of my favorites as well. No need to apologize just come by any time. I sure understand about problems with servers or in my case with PC's. My PC has been acting really weird for 2 months now. I get knocked out of Epinions or totally out of the internet at least 5 times a day. I can't find any virus's because I scan it every week.

It took me so long to get to your latest reviews, Ron. Every time I go to your profile page, I get knocked off of AOL! I just tried again using Internet Explorer and it worked. This review was just outstanding! I was a big fan!

Re: What a pain this is - I know, I Know, Jo (Reply to this comment)

Over 8 hours of grueling manual work is what it took me to fix the problem with this review now I am ready to go to bed finally. Jo, now that you mention it I remember reading Mobi's review of the problem after all. I of course as always didn't understand most of what he was saying. I have a hard time understanding most of what Mobi writes about. I am so Computer illiterate that he has tried to help me many times and finally gave up on me because I just wasn't getting it. I appreciated his help and the many times he tried by Email to explain things to me and he pretty much had better patience with me then some would have trying to teach and old Dog new tricks.

I thought I would try it here in this comment to see if it "Happens" here as well' so here goes.

Yeah, that is some serious nastiness right there.

Epinions is working on it...they've actually managed to fix the bug where plain text (as opposed to Word text) with special characters comes out garbled. Hopefully it can get fixed soon.

Otherwise, nice work, well-researched as usual.

Re: W-O-W - You are not kidding WOW (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I was not aware this was a bug but I guess that's what I get for not reading the notices here very much. From what I could see its' the way Epinions is not reading certain characters being copied over from Microsoft Word. So whatever change they recently made they need to reverse it.
