Black and Light Company~easy to use, great product, quick shipping

My name is Susi and I’m an on-line shopping addict. I am the reason on-line shopping was invented. If I never had to cross the threshold of a brick and mortar store again, I wouldn’t give a darn. I even used to buy my groceries on line back when Peapod was available in my area. On line shopping is a serious business for me and anytime I can find a new place to browse the virtual aisles, I’m happy as a clam.
My newest discovery is the Black and Light Company. They are a veritable heaven for candles. And these aren’t just ordinary candles, they have a special flare and panache that I found delightful.
Browsing the store
Their web site is very easy to navigate. It is stark in its beauty, all done in tantalizing black. Since they are dedicated to candles only, it is a fairly easy shop … until you get into designs and colors and styles. They have the basic page layout: home, designs, shop, contact us, etc.
You can browse the product by picking a particular design or by all products. There are two sizes available, but about 15-20 different designs and then colors on top of that. When I speak of colors, I mean the exterior shell of the candle only. All candles are white, it is their exterior shell that makes them unique.
My account
You can shop until your wrist tires, but eventually you are going to have to checkout. Before you can checkout, you have to fill out basic information in the ‘My Account’ page. No sensitive billing information is contained here, just name, address and general information. This information is stored for your future shopping needs.
Checking out
On the shopping bag page you can verify your purchase[s] and change quantities if you desire. At this time you can select your shipping information. Currently they have only two modes of shipping; standard ground ($9.73) and overnight ($66.02). I might mention now I can’t imagine any candle emergency that would require that hefty price tag but, hey, the need might arise for someone.
You can also request a gift card at this time and include a message, if you wish. Finally it comes time to pay the piper. They accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.
Because you have prefilled the information on the ‘My Account’ page, everything is automatically filled in as far as name, etc. If you wish to ship to another address, change it now.
Packaging and shipping
Shipping is very prompt. I received my candles via UPS in a couple of days. The outer box is sturdy but the real surprise is when you open the box. Your new purchase is nestled in brightly colored crinkly paper and each candle is in its own gift box. The gift box is pretty enough in its own right, without even opening it and retrieving your candle.
Overall impression
If you are looking for a beautiful candle either for yourself or as a gift, the Black and Light Company is the place to shop. These would make wonderful shower or wedding gifts. Let me reiterate, these aren’t wimpy little candles, they are stout 4 inch and 6 inch pillars and burn up to 90 hours. Their web site is easy to navigate, shopping is painless and shipping and packaging is outstanding. You simply can’t go wrong.

p.s. That low rumbly growl you have been hearing in the background is Joubert. When I first approached him about adding this web site we met a ton of obstacles along the way. Joubert, however, grabbed the challenge like a dog with a bone and wouldn’t let go. Hats off buddy, you done good!
