For anyone who has ever bought pro-level musical goodies from online retailers, they know that there is a huge variance in quality, customer service and shipping prices. Some retailers are just hoping that you don't shop around, and have ridiculous prices and make you pay for shipping. I have found that, as a whole, you should never pay for shipping, even on a sub-$50 item. Ask for free shipping (because someone else will give it to you) and they'll give it to you. Period.
That said, American Musical Supply is a absolute shining star in the business. Nobody beats their prices, nor their level of customer service.
The best thing about AMS is their free payment plans. On items up to a grand, they'll do a no-credit check 3 payment plan for you, and have very easy qualification standards for their 5-payment plan. YOu can combine items into this plan as well. Their online support is great, and they have a very powerful search engine on their site. They also constantly offer dent/scratch and B-stock at insane discounts! I saw a $2499 Fantom X7 going as B-stock for $1599! Shipping is pretty much always free, and they have multiple ship-from locations, so I have received stuff from them (on the free side!) in 1 day or two. That is strong; most places are a week minimum, and usually more.
I have had very few issues with them, although recently I got a bad Samson Resolve Sub88 Subwoofer Monitor from them. It went bad one or two days outside of the return policy. They told me not to worry, and sent a new one out 2nd day air on the spot, and emailed me a shipping label for the (very heavy) bad Sub88. They told me "just make sure we get in in the next couple of weeks".
Now that is service. Couldn't reccomend these guys enough.
