My Two Forks in Three_ster's Food Lover's Write-Off !

The Bottom Line Food...The Only Good Alternative To Sex. :-)
Who would miss the chance to write about food? Not me! My relatives would be insulted, for sure. My dads brother was the head chef at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City for over 20 years. And his son (my cousin) carried on the tradition. We're foodies.
So here are my favorites, and if you'd like to contribute to the write-off, the info is here.
1. Soft Drink: Snapple Peach Tea. This is the only drink I have found that actually tastes like ripe, luscious peaches! You can smell the peach juice as soon as you open the bottle.
2. Ice Cream Flavor: Dulce De Leche. Okay, so Im a caramel freak. Cant help it. Theres just something about that smooth, creamy, slightly biting taste to caramel that makes my eyes roll back in my head.
3. Fast Food Restaurant: Youre not going to believe this, but I dont go to any fast-food restaurants. Ever. I figure any place thats only charging me a buck for a sandwich is probably getting their food supplies from Joes Croissants and Fill Dirt...
4. Type of Pizza: Wood-fired, with lots of mozzarella and grilled onions. Anything else piled on top would only serve to confuse your taste buds and result in the loss of the distinct flavors of the crust, tomato and onions, and cheese. And lose the fresh basil! Too pungent.
5. Thanksgiving Dinner: My own, actually. (I love to cook. Its in my blood, I guess.) I place pats of butter under the skin of the turkey, and sprinkle it with garlic salt and paprika before placing it in the oven. To make the gravy, I always skim off all the grease and add chicken broth to the turkey juices. Then I sprinkle a little garlic powder and black pepper into the juices and add some corn starch mixed with water to thicken it. I cook the stuffing separately. To make it, I always use Jones sage sausage, lightly grilled onions and celery, some chicken broth, two eggs, some black pepper, and two loaves of fresh white bread. Then I toss it with Bells Poultry Seasoning, and put it into the oven. I make the mashed potatoes with Yukon Gold potatoes, evaporated milk, and lots of butter. I also cut a few acorn squash in half, scoop out the seeds, and cook them in the oven. Then I fill them with butter and a little salt. I also always make a big dish of candied sweet potatoes (made with brown sugar and butter), a broccoli-cauliflower and mushroom casserole, lots of homemade dinner rolls, and a tray of black olives, baby gherkin pickles, and cheddar cheese chunks. Nobody goes home hungry.
6. Snack Food: Ranch-flavored pretzel pieces! But then again, you could put Ranch flavoring on a rock and Id probably eat it
7. Side Dish: Cheddar-mashed potatoes that have been lightly browned on top, under the broiler. There go my eyes again. Rolling, rolling...
8. Food to Eat While Driving: Chewing Gum. (I dont eat in my car. Im a clean freak, doncha know.)
9. Food for Breakfast: Homemade Cardamom bread, toasted, with butter, and lots of strong coffee. If you havent tried making your own bread with ground Cardamom in the dough, you dont know what youre missing. Makes the whole house smell sooooo good.
10. Sit-Down Restaurant: Romanos Macaroni Grille. Every single thing on the menu is absolutely sinful. And I do mean sinful. Your arteries will probably faint at just the descriptions of the entrees. Lots of butter, Pancetta, and cream. Oh yeah. Pass the Lipitor, please.
11. Italian Dish: Scaloppini Di Pollo. Lightly floured medallions of chicken breast sautéed in lemon-butter, then simmered with marinated artichokes, mushrooms, pieces of pancetta, and a few capers. I also throw in a few pieces of finely chopped garlic.
12. Chinese Dish: This is a really hard decision. It would have to be either General Tsos Chicken, or Hunan Pork. If I really had to choose between the two, Id probably have to leave. (grin)
13. Sandwich: Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato. I toast the bread, spread it with lots of Miracle Whip, sprinkle the tomatoes with a little salt and black pepper, and load it up with lots of bacon and lettuce.
14. Cheese: OH GOD. Dont get me started. The list would go on forever. I guess Ill have to tie one of my hands behind my back and type out just two favorites: G-o-u-d-a and J-a-r-l-s-b-e-r-g.
15. Donut: Krispy Kreme Glazed, of course! I mean, if youre going to eat something bad for you, why not go first class? (Insulin shock, anyone?)
16. Type of dessert: Fattigmann. This is a Norwegian treat. Its basically an egg-laden dough that's rolled very thin, then tied into a bow tie shape and deep fried. Then it's sprinkled with powdered sugar. I like to put Cardamom in the dough. (Do ya think I might like Cardamom just a little bit?)
17. Type of Cake: French Vanilla with lemon cream in the center. I put a thick layer of the lemon cream in the middle of the cake, and then sprinkle shredded candied strips of lemon peel on top of the icing.
18. Vegetable: Another toughie, here. I love all veggies. But I guess corn on the cob with melted butter is my favorite (I really should own stock in Land O Lakes...) .
19. Fruit: The ever-beloved banana! Its so versatile! I put it into things like parfaits with vanilla pudding and strawberries, or use it to make banana bread.
20. Food In Bed: Uh
check out my answer to number 8.
21. Beer: Ive never been much of a beer drinker, although I love to use it in cooking. I put it into batters for fish, and in my cheddar soup. I usually try to find a good German stout.
22. Drink With Dinner: Either a bottle of Snapple, or some Fruit 2-o (flavored water). But its AFTER dinner thats my favorite drink time
JAVA!!
23. Fruit Juice: Orange-banana-pineapple juice. Sweet and tart all at once. Yummy.
and Finally...
24. What is your favorite meal? Ouch. This one is reeeeeally hard. So many things I love. I suppose Chicken Marsala tops the list, though. I lightly flour pounded chicken breasts and fry them in butter, then set them aside while I make the Marsala glaze. I put another pat or two of butter in the pan, and add a cup of Marsala wine and a cup of chicken broth, and boil it down almost to a syrup. The syrup is poured on top of the chicken breast, and then I top the chicken with sautéed mushrooms. On the side I either make spaghetti in bianco (spaghetti with parmesan cheese and butter) or just buttered egg noodles.
Okay...now I gotta go get something to eat.
