Like many of the reviews I've read of this site, shopping with Mercantila was the worst shopping experience I have had online, and I have been shopping online for many yeasr. I was sucked in by the good price on an Italian Velox espresso maker, priced about 15% less than anyone else was charging. I was suckered in by that lower price, which is apparently how they get their customers. Naturally, the credit card was charged immediately. When I tried to call them, using the 800 number touted on their website, a recording told me that the number can no longer be used for existing orders, that "like Amazon," I can do "everything online." What a joke!
When I talked to a person (for about 1 second: I pressed "1" for "ordering" when I called back the 800 number) the first thing they asked was if I was calling about an existing order. When I said yes, I was immediately sent back to that recording telling me I was out of luck. I'm telling you, this place is not doing business ethically. I couldn't cancel my order, they didn't return any emails EVER, so I had no chance but to go to my credit card provider to dispute the transaction. I should have read the reviews here on Epnion.
I plan on going to the BBB and State of California on this company. They shouldn't be allowed to do business in this state.
