I love crafts I mean LOVE them, but I hate going to my local Hobby Lobby. Why? Because the people that work there are well.....rear ends to put it nicely. And seems like every time I go there are no people working at the checkouts- so it makes me tempted to walk out with all my stuff and if they stop me I would tell them I thought it was free since no one was working at the checkout.
I wish there were a Joann's brick and mortar store close to me- the nearest one is just over 2 hours from me, and as much as I'd like to see it, my husband would probably proclaim me as nuts if I went two hours to go to a craft store. But anyway, I can log onto http://www.joanns.com/ and get stuff from their online store, which by the way, Hobby Lobby doesn't have an online store.
I really hadn't thought about Joann's until I did an online search for blank cards and envelopes, which my kids and I use to make cards for the Love Letters organization, but sure enough as soon as I searched for it a link for Joann's came up, so I decided to shop with them.
Since the link I chose took me directly to the cards, I went ahead and looked at them and then wandered around to see if I needed anything else. They have fabric, batting, dressforms, scrapbooking stuff, craft kits, stuff for sewing, knitting, and needlepoint, so if you do a craft, you can find something for it here. The site is easy to deal with and when you type something in the search box you actually get the items you are looking for.
As far as prices go, I'd say they were pretty decent- matter of fact, I saw the same items I purchased online at Joann's over at Hobby Lobby, and Hobby Lobby was more expensive, and Joann's didn't even have the stuff on sale. I mean, it was only a dollar or two, but you know, they were cheaper, so they have that going for them. I ended up getting 2 sets of a box of 50 bland cards and envelopes for $4.99 each. I thought that was pretty cheap. I also shopped around on the site and ended up with a few packs of colored cards as well.
Let me note here that you need to do an online search for coupon codes for Joann's. I happened to run across one for free shipping on orders over $40, so that hooked me up as far as shipping goes.
After checking out, (they accept all major cards) I got an email letting me know they got my order and then 4 days later I got an email along with a Fed Ex Smart Post tracking link letting me know my order had shipped. Then, 4 days after that I finally got my order. I thought the shipping was a tad slow- so if you need these items you're ordering quickly I wouldn't shop here. We didn't need this stuff all that soon- but you know how it is when you're waiting on a package to come and you keep wondering where it is.
Anyway, everything was right with my order and it all came packaged well and nothing was damaged. Overall I had a pretty pleasant experience with this store, and I would consider it again- it has decent prices and there are a lot of coupon codes out there that can save you a little money. The only negative I have to say about it is that the shipping is a tad slow.
