Pros: -price-amount of equipment-diverse crowd-clean
Cons: -could use another water fountain-need dumbbells heavier than 75 lbs.-'lunk alarm' is annoying
The Bottom Line: If you don't need a lot of extra 'stuff' with your gym, and just need a place to get a good workout at a decent price, Planet Fitness is fantastic.

I see a whole lot of negative reviews for Planet Fitness, and I really don't understand. Maybe I'm just lucky to have a good location, but I've always thought it was a great place to workout for somebody such as myself, who doesn't need a bunch of amenities in a gym; just some weights, some machines, and a low price.
Since I signed up, the staff has always been nice, although really my biggest concern when going to workout isn't how nice the staff is. As long as they are competent and can enter my number in and answer questions when I have them, that's fine with me. I'm not there to socialize, I'm there to work out.
While it sometimes gets crowded, especially around 5:30/6 pm, I've never had to wait long for a machine or set of dumbbells. Plus, there is plenty of stuff there, so its easy to find something else to do if you ever have to wait.
The gym is very clean, both the outer areas and the locker room (I can only vouch for the mens). Spray bottles of cleaner and towels are located in numerous spots around the gym.
While I've never used the track on the upper level (I'm a treadmill guy), it's nice having it separated from the weights and machines area so you don't have to watch for passing runners when going to the water fountain, lockers, etc.
I guess for me it's just a perfect place for me to go, crank out a workout session, and leave. I don't need a reason to hang out at the gym, as long as I can get a good workout in, that's all I care about. And here, you can get that done. Plenty of weights and machines, with not a lot of other frills like juice bars, saunas and crap like that.
