Pros: good free phone & plan, uses AT&T network
Cons: Unbelievably poor and incompetent service
The Bottom Line: If their customer support line were answered by a machine that simply said "You're screwed, give up" they'd be more helpful than the timewasters they are.

| captlego's Full Review: General Reviews of MCI Worldcom Customer Service |
It's been two weeks since I replaced a stolen phone. It looks like I'll never again make a cellphone call with Worldcom Wireless.
I had immediately called to report the stolen phone. They suspended the service. The next day, I obtained a replacement phone and the nightmare began.
In the past two weeks, I have spent over 8 hours on hold, and talked to at least 12 "support" people. Each time, I did exactly as requested, and was promised that the new phone would be operational soon (promises ranged from 2 hours to 5 days). Each and every time, the promised results failed to materialize. I don't know if they were telling me lies, or are merely incompetent. Either way, the result is the same -- no cellphone service.
Spending hours on hold is unacceptable.
Having a contract and a phone, but being unable to place or receive calls is unacceptable.
Being promised results that aren't delivered is unacceptable.
Being able to activate a phone seems like a pretty fundamental operation for a cellular provider -- Worldcom Wireless can't do it.
Having somebody able to answer a customer support phonecall with holdtimes of less than 30 minutes seems pretty fundamental --- Worldcom Wireless can't do it.
Having ANYBODY in customer support or technical support who knows what they're doing, and can deliver on their promises seems pretty fundamental --- Worldcom Wireless doesn't.
And don't even get me started on their billing system!
I give up. At this point, a $200 cancellation fee seems like a bargain.
Update: I cancelled their service (and will contest the cancellation fee). I don't yet know if they are any more competent canceling the service than they are providing it...
