Pros: Comedy with a dog involved.
Cons: Poor flow of the film.
The Bottom Line: Only see this movie if you have absolutely nothing else to do since it really is something to just fill time.

| shopperfran's Full Review: Marley & Me |
Marley and me started out as a comedy about a young couple that was trying to decide which way they wanted to go in life. To this end, the husband (Owen Wilson) got a dog (eventually named Marley) at the suggestion of his friend. The dog was to fill the void for his new wife (Jennifer Aniston) so she wouldn't want a baby so soon into the marriage. (The friend comes in throughout the film as more of a nuisance than a character that moves the film along.)
The movie has it's funny parts, most of which you can see in the trailer for the movie. The story proceeds through the years of the marriage during which the couple does end up having chidren after a miscarriage for which Marley instinctively consoles the wife, Jenn. It goes through the changes in the marriage: career changes, changes in the relationship as husband and wife and then as mom and dad. Marley is constantly there chewing through everything, even the marriage.
The movie kind of muddles along leaving you wondering when it will end; which scene will be the last. Some parts don't flow well nor do they all seem to lead to a point but finally you know it's coming to an end when the dog is getting older and he starts having physical problems.
I don't want to add a total spoiler so I'll just say that if you take children to this movie, be prepared to discuss death and life with them. Be prepared to laugh. Be prepared to cry. Be prepared to be tense and sit for a while.
