Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX is in the mid price range of printers. It is an inkjet printer. For $199 users get speed, and good quality prints. Of course, users should expect all this in more expensive models.
785EPX has a Type II PC Card slot which allows users to print directly from a digital camera memory card. The printer has a LCD panel.The LCD panel is a good size and it has lots of photo management functions.
Here is how the printer works: You insert the camera memory card The printer will list all the photos that appear on the memory card. The photos are not viewed on the panel. Users can purchase separately a preview monitor for $99 additional cost. The printer will print a thumbnail index for reference purposes. The various settings on the LCD panel can be changed. It allows images to be brightened, or darkened. Colors can be balanced or made sharper. The printer also enables users to change photographs to sepia tones or turned into monochrome images. No computer is needed for this operation.
The 785EPX is great at producing photos. It can produce a 720x720 dpi print in about four minutes. This is quite good compared to other printers on the market.
The color graphics come out wonderful on plain and coated paper. On Glossy Photo Paper the photos come out with the best quality. I saw sharp colors in perfect balance. The cost per page is reasonable at only five cents a print(text) and 26 cents for color prints.
Overall, 785EPX works well for photographs from a memory card. Settings can be changed easily to manipulate images. Print quality and output are excellent especially on Photo Paper. For $199, the 785EPX printer is a worthwhile purchase.
