The Bottom Line Why did I bother with AMS when I could've gone to Musician's Friend?

I ordered from American Musical about 4 months ago. I ordered an Ibanez GRX40 guitar in the mettalic grape finish for $162. The item was shipped UPS ground. I recieved the item in 4-5 days which is standard for UPS ground. But my biggest surpise came when I opened the package. They had sent the wrong guitar, an Ibanez GRX20, in a mettalic blue finish, which was damaged, and had charged me $18 dollars more! What's more, the guitar didn't even work! The input jack was broken, so I fixed it. I needed a guitar then, so I called them up and offered to keep the item, if they would credit my account the difference of $18.
After "talking to her supervisor" the representative agreed to it and I thought I had my situation settled. However, a month passed and I looked at my account, and they had still yet to credit my account. So, I called them AGAIN and now they said that they weren't going to credit my account. So I finally decided to send the REPAIRED guitar back to them and took my business elsewhere.
Well, now that I'm done with telling you about MY experience with them, let me tell you a little about the company. They're website isn't too bad, it isn't quite as good as Musician's Friend (a much better company) but still it's usable.
They're catalog is average. While they offer detailed descriptions of their items, but they are sometimes inaccurate and contain typos. But like, AMS's website, it's useable, not great, but ok.
So, summing things up, my experience with AMS has certainly not been positive. If you need to buy musical equipment, please go to www. musiciansfriend.com. They are so far above AMS in every category. Steer clear for American Musical Supply!
